Hillary backers come to defense of Palin

Jonathan Martin1 hour, 15 minutes ago

The leaders of a women's political organization that launched earlier this year to support Hillary Clinton are speaking out against what they say are examples of media sexism toward Sarah Palin and urging members to tell the press corps "to back off."

WomenCount, a group co-founded by top Hillary fundraiser Susie Tompkins Buell, posted a lengthy item on their blog decrying questions over whether Palin can, as a mother of five, juggle her family responsibilities and still be vice president.

"The very notion that Sarah Palin should not have accepted this nomination because she is a mother with demanding challenges underscores just how far we have to go," wrote Rosemary Camposano, the group's communications director.

She added: "It will be good for America to watch Sarah Palin on the campaign trail – bouncing from parenting to politics. That’s how most women function – multi-tasking, leaning on friends and family, and waking up each morning and doing it all again."

The PUMAs don't like what the media is doing... and so far its attacks on Sarah have only put Obama further behind the curve ball!

I would not be surprised if Hillary is behind the whole PUMA thing.

Her best strategy is to wait for Obama to lose and she can run again in 2012 against a woman candidate.

Her mantra then would be, would you want 12 years of the same (Bush-McCain).

This is her best strategy IHMO

Hillary would like to see McCain win, since he'd be easier to get rid of than Obama. McCain has a long history of scandal going all the way back to the Keating Five.

Getting rid of Palin may be tougher, but with a democrat House and Senate, it could be done.

I actually don’t see how Hillary can ever come back.

When Sarah wins, Clinton will be running in 2012 against someone with real Vice-Presidential experience, not co(dependent)-presidential experience...

The PUMA’s actually like Palin? They haven’t changed their minds since the RNC convention is over? I wonder how they’ll feel come November....

Right on

But shouldn’t that be residential experience?

It may be an uphill battle in 2012 against an experienced McCain-Palin ticket or a ticket with Palin on top but Hillary will at least be free to mount a challenge.

If Obama is the sitting President she will have to fight the whole democrat party to challenge. They won’t take kindly to a primary fight against their own incumbent President.

I have to say that I'm impressed with the PUMA’s, at least they are walking the talk. While the abortion/lesbian wing of the feminist movement degrades Palin, the PUMA’s celebrate that she represents everything the feminist movement has tried to accomplish...even though she is of a different political stripe.

However, I do wonder what their response would be if Hillary were on the ticket..

I think you’ve nailed it. Hillary wants another shot at this, and 2012 is it, for all practical purposes.

Her calculus now says that the odds of defeating a sitting democrat in the primary are much weaker than going face-to-face with a Republican challenger.

Overtly or behind-the-scenes, I think Hillary will be betting against the home team...

For a change, a liberal group calls another on its hypocrisy.

It's not hypocrisy.
It's Socialism and Party (and the power necessary to prevail) uber alles.

The politics of sex be (temporarily) damned!
