ICBW, but perhaps illegal immigration is not so large a problem in Alaska as it is in other states. IOW, why waste time and energy while running a state on something that is not a problem in that state.

I agree with what you’re saying re: illegal immigration (unless there is a huge rush of Russians trying to sneak in I’d imagine Alaska to not face the same problems that other states are).
