Pulling the Curtain on Palin
WashingtonPost.com ^ | Tuesday, September 9, 2008 | By E. J. Dionne Jr.

John McCain's campaign acknowledged this weekend that Sarah Palin is unprepared to be vice president or president of the United States.

Of course, McCain's people said no such thing. But their actions told you all you needed to know.

McCain, Barack Obama and Joe Biden all subjected themselves to tough questioning on the regular Sunday news programs. Palin was the only no-show. And it's not just the Sunday interviews. She has not opened herself to any serious questioning since McCain picked her to be next in line for the presidency.

They keep measuring Palin up against Obama. What is it they're saying with that without really saying it.

One-on-One, Obam_Ah can't play with the big boy, he has to play against the girl!

To Obama and his media, be careful what you ask for. This delay I think, is great. They can hardly wait to get their hands on her and tear her up. They think that she's such a light weight. It's like Mccain is standing calmly with pie in his hand and they're screaming 'Let Me Have It!!'.

Oh, and I'd love to see Campbell Brown take her on.

McCain's advisers clearly don't trust Palin to answer questions about policy and don't want her to answer many of the questions that have been raised about her tenure as governor of Alaska.

I think the McCain campaign is very smartly playing "keep away" to allow Palin to go over the heads of media and let voters come to know her without the media filter. I saw a replay of her in the debate for governor the other night. She wasn't perfect, but she was still very good, thinks on her feet, and had done her homework. I don't think she has a weakness; she's a "natural" as some have said. McCain is lousy in a speech. Obama in a debate. She does both well. Dionne may regret being so anxious to get the mic in front of her.

Hillary was kept from the media for years -

This is such an in your face example of the media's belief that THEY are the ones whose right and job it is to vet the candidates.

They are furious at her ‘message’ to the media that she doesn't care a fig for their opinions. It's the American people she's coming to serve - not the Media, the Foggy Bottom elite, the Washington insiders and their cocktail circuit -

The WH chef will have to learn how to cook Moose, venison and caribou - and there will more beer than champaign on ice.

The media, the elites, the Marxists - ‘Saracuda’ and McC are their death nell. They are frightened and will pull every nasty trick out of their gutters they can. They know that a win for McC/Palin will mean they loose any chance for the WH for the foreseeable future...They see the first woman pres. being a republican. They see up and coming bedrock conservatives like Jindel and West that will be rising up and ready to continue - it will mean the death of the Marxists...

We haven't even begun to see how nasty they will get. They are like cornered badgers

Dionne is a useless Lib slimeball, although I realize that is somewhat redundant.

I am enjoying the feigned outrage of the left and their worries over her qualifications, had they worried so much about Obama's qualifications perhaps Hellery would be the candidate.

My favorite part of all this: if she is SO unqualified and BAD, why not just let the GOP run with it and lose?

The fact that they keep attacking, especially on so many trivial things, proves what a good choice she is

Wonder what the “EJ” in E. J. ‘Don’t call me Celine’ Dionne Jr. stands for?

Erica Jong Dionne?

Perhaps it stands for Extremely Jerky?

Other less polite "Extreme J-words" come to mind as well
