Palin Billed State for Nights Spent at Home Taxpayers Also Funded Family's Travel By James V. Grimaldi and Karl Vick Washington Post Staff Writers Tuesday, September 9, 2008; Page A01

ANCHORAGE, Sept. 8 -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has billed taxpayers for 312 nights spent in her own home during her first 19 months in office, charging a "per diem" allowance intended to cover meals and incidental expenses while traveling on state business.

The governor also has charged the state for travel expenses to take her children on official out-of-town missions. And her husband, Todd, has billed the state for expenses and a daily allowance for trips he makes on official business for his wife.

Palin, who earns $125,000 a year, claimed and received $16,951 as her allowance, which officials say was permitted because her official "duty station" is Juneau, according to an analysis of her travel documents by The Washington Post.

The governor's daughters and husband charged the state $43,490 to travel and many of the trips were to and from their house in Wasilla and Juneau, the capital city 600 miles away, the documents show.

Barry’s expenses would be covered on page 19 in the Post. So, thee you have it. It’s fair.

Have they yet lined up all her elementary school teachers and made them stand on one leg until they “admit” Palin didn’t always raise her hand in class?

The MSM just can’t help themselves, can they? The only way to deal with them is to hit back.

Notice that they don't talk bout the fact that she laid off the Gov's chef, and no limo (drives herself)? Lot's of reason for a limo lib to hate her! Bring it on!

They forgot that she sold a 2.7 million dollar jet on EBay. So let's see, she cost me dimes, and saved hundreds of millions? Oh ya, that woman has got to go...What a bunch of maroons!

Palin Billed State for Nights Spent at Home

Palin Did Not Bill State For All Expenses She Is Entitled To

"Palin rarely sought reimbursement for meals while staying in Anchorage or Wasilla, the reports show."

"Leighow noted that under state policy, all of the governor's children are entitled to per diem expenses, even her infant son. "The first family declined the per diem [for] the children," Leighow said. "The amount that they had declined was $4,461, as of August 5."

“The MSM just can’t help themselves, can they? “

That’s because they are convinced that they are right and that they know what’s best for the country and the world. Arrogance is ubiquitous on the left.

Last Line on Page 1:

I can almost see a on-air MSNBC purse fight between a moonBat leftist headline writer and a journalist trying to maintain some form of respectability.

It’s so insane what the media are up to.

It's the exact same thing they did to GWB from Day One of his tenure.
Same game plan, different target. In his case, he "stole" an elecetion. In Palin's case, she has committed the Liberal Media's unpardonable sin of being a strong woman and Conservative at the same time.

This 'derangement syndrome' is getting tiresome.
It is my fervent hope that the vast majority of Americans see through it and vote the Republican ticket as a way to get a modicum of payback.

Did you know that when Piper was a baby she dropped her binky and Sarah did not wash it before putting it back in her mouth, just wiped it off, and ohhh this is really bad, once Sarah sneaked out a silent fart in church. the horrors.

Sarah bills $16,000 for her valid, work-at-home time.

Barry sends a $1 million EARMARK to Michelle's employer--1 month after she is hired for $300,000.

Bring it on!

My only question is how much money did Senator O’Biden pilfer in his 30+ years in public office and why isn't anyone talking about it?

Biden would appear to be one of those who hasn't greatly enriched himself at our expense (unless he's got a lot of dough hidden away someplace.) Recently there was a piece here which said he had assets of around $2 Mil, most of which was his house. That really is small potatoes by Senate standards.

From http://chrisofrights.blogspot.com/2008/09/vetting-sarah-palin.html

She billed the state for nights spent at home. TRUE.

People that are upset about this don’t understand AK’s politics or grasp the size of the state. They’ve been working for years on being the first state to institute “virtual government” allowing the state legislators to form a quorum and vote on issues from their legislative offices back in their home district. Just about every state official, including the Governor spends quite a bit on travel expenses. It’s more then legitimate for the Governor to expense travel to and from home. In fact, the Governor could apparently expense far more than she has, and has expensed far less than her predecessors.
