In Palin's Past, the Personal Got Political; An Aide's Affair May Have Become Grounds for Firing
WSJ ^

Posted on 09/08/2008 10:17:44 PM PDT by Chet 99

WASILLA, Alaska -- Sarah Palin and John Bitney go way back. They were in the same junior-high band class. Mr. Bitney was a key aide in Gov. Palin's 2006 gubernatorial campaign. When she took office, she gave Mr. Bitney a job as her legislative director, and a few months later stood beside him at a news conference and praised his work.

"Whatever you did, you did it right," she told Mr. Bitney and his team.

Seven weeks later she fired Mr. Bitney for what her spokeswoman now describes as "poor job performance."

What happened in between? According to Mr. Bitney, Gov. Palin got a call from another old friend, Scott Richter, informing her that his wife, Debbie Richter, and Mr. Bitney were having an affair. Mr. Bitney had kept that secret from the governor, even as he told her of his divorce, he said.

And the hits keep coming. The media is the most disgusting I’ve ever seen. They will erupt in the Primal Scream after Palin wins.

So she fired her own aid for conduct she didn’t condone.

What’s the problem?

Wall Street Journal’s news division is just as left wing as any other rag today. It is only the editorial section that is conservative.

This is one of the most sorry attempts to drum up a scandal where none exists that I’ve ever seen.

I’m just shocked that this came from the Wall Street Journal, seems more like a New York Slimes hit piece. But there’s really nothing to see here. He betrayed the governor’s trust and needed to go. Period.

I am still waiting on the hard-hitting expose on Sarah Palin’s overdue library books from the 1980s.

No one who knows me well would ever admit to me they're having an affair.

Why? Because the chances we'd have a second conversation after that are zero. People who will screw over their spouses and children aren't people I'm willing to trust with anything.

It is a sorry non-story, but it exposes just how disgusting the media is. They’re intruding on the lives of non-public figures. They publicly exposed the identity of the man who had been Cuckolded by Bitney. The media is friggin’ shameless.

There's more to it than the WSJ is letting on.

Debbie Richter also worked for Gov. Palin - therefore there was fraternizing going on between two individuals in her employment. That is frowned on by many corporations and government offices.

Ah but it gets worse. Seems there was a chicken missing from the governor’s mansion during a party where dozens of people were present. Governor Palin had all the guests line up and then ordered the guilty party to take one step forward. When no one did, she ordered the state troopers to begin randomly shooting, while everyone stood at attention.

She then told the troopers to tell the guests “Save yourself” and “Give it up before anyone else gets hurt.” It was at that point a little boy stepped forward and.....oh wait a second, I think this was Schindler’s List, nevermind.

Fortunately, most Americans recognize what is going on. And it all serves to help the McCain/Palin ticket. Palin is remarkable...with nary an effort she has coaxed the media into exposing how disgusting they truly are.

It makes sense to me to fire the idiot rather than allowing everyone to say that Governor Palin's aide was having an affair with a married woman and that Governor Palin was condoning this conduct by allowing him to remain on the job.

This is one of those, "Damned if you, Damned if you don't" things.

I knew a warrant officer in my last unit who was having an affair with another soldier's wife. The Army played favorites and kicked his ass out of the Army. Kind of like they'd do in a "small town" where no one gives a ---- about the Wall Street Journal. Those newpaper types live in their own world.

I’d probably had fired him as well, if she did not it would be “Kept him on staff even after learning of..” if she did fire him...so what?

What is this curious attractions to “Mean old Palin fired some screwup in 2001”?

People get fired....so what? Are Staff Employees guaranteed lifetime jobs or something?

It’s been like this since GWB fired those US Atty’s.

Uh, what? Palin has ethics and morals that she lives her life by and governs by as well? Well, I guess it is hard for those of the Clinton/Obama Kool-Aid Crowd to grasp that notion.
