Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will speak at her son’s Army deployment ceremony on 9/11 and spend two days with ABC News crews later this week as part of a McCain campaign plan to increase Americans’ comfort with her as a leader.
Campaign and network officials had said on Sunday that her first television interview would be a sit-down with Charles Gibson of ABC’s “World News.”
But it turns out that she is spending much of Thursday and Friday with Gibson — at the ceremony in Fairbanks, Alaska, and at her home in Wasilla, Alaska.
Campaign aides said the anchorman will get extensive, repeated access to Palin throughout her first trip home since becoming the nominee.
“ABC News will have plenty of time to question her and examine her and spend time with her,” a campaign official said. “They’ll do multiple interviews over two days. No topics are off-limits – there are no ground rules. There’s tons of time to talk to her about every topic.” ...

I loved the comeback from the McCain campaign spokesperson when the network whiners were crying about Sarah not interviewing with them yet, “Who cares?”
Sort of a smiling barracuda.
They probably started drilling her for the interviews and debates, and I bet she creamed every question. What do you do but shrug and say, "Welcome to The Show, Governor. Git out there and break a leg."
As I've said here before, reportedly she has read the newspaper cover to cover every day since age 10. I think people will be blown away by her command of the issues.
The more I look at this so-called Fannie/Freddie gaffe hitting the wires this morning, the more I learn that she is right about the issue. It's no gaffe at all, and those who attack her on it without knowing what Fannie and Freddie have been up to in recent months are going to regret it.

“Two days will produce what they and the other media want, by splicing the tapes, soundbites, explaining what she really said.”
a plenty reasonable concern......I would assume that should ABC actually do this the McCain/Palin campaign would declare no further taped interviews and make no bones about detailing exactly why......from that day forward live interviews only....
When Gibson and London did a morning show from Montana, Charlie was enamored by the mountains. Just wait till he spends two days in beautiful Alaska with beautiful Sarah. The WOW factor will be like hitting him in the head with a 2x4. He will fall in love!
Papasmurf....
You’ve been around here for awhile...what do you think?

I’d still like a campaign commercial sticking it in the media’s face and calling them irrelevant.
True, I'm trusting all of you on this. But I've been following campaigns since Ike I tell ya, and just one photo (Dukakis), one ad (Goldwater Bomb),, one phrase (macacaca or whatever), end of story. And every media outlet including ABC is looking for that one thing. They don't hate her, they despise her.
So they can complain all they want if something dirty is done, but that doesn't save it.
I'm praying for her and McCain.
You’ve been here longer than I have . LOL
What do I think about what?
Great strategy to do in her hometown.
ABC will be forced to show the good side of Palin. The emotional send off of her son on 9/11. The friendly people of the towns who all love her. Her childhood home, church, school, etc.
By making it a few days out, it will get lots of lead-up air time. Build up for a large audience. ABC knows this will happen, so they will have to be fair.
What a PR masterstroke.
Yes, they will ask tough questions, but so what. We all think she is great, and accomplished, so let her be “Sarah”. She will be fine.
The McCain campaign continues to amaze me ever since the European trip. One masterful stroke after another.
Wow, this will be great.

Bringing on Steve Schmidt full time has proved to be a very smart and profitable move.
Gov. Palin is no lightweight when it comes to thinking on her feet. I have every expectation that she’ll make Charlie, and the audience, fans of her.
Sarahcuda will win this election for us, Mr B.
Everything relevant to the election...
There, fixed it.
I’m as nervous as you. In fact, I believe Gibson is a long time mole for the left, not just because of the sum of what he regularly does, but because I remember quite well the way ABC first put joan lunden on in the morning with David Hartman - a true conservative and decent man.....after a very short time, Hartman was (1982?) unceremoniously tossed.....from that day forward GMA has been drippingly liberal and politically active.
Gibson is bad news, but I sincerely hope he will have been bested by this American Lady when it is said and done.....
I, uh, uh, uh, remember David uuuhhhh Hartman. He was a good guy and had a great sense of humor. But, I don’t remember him being tossed, rather, his retirement was planned and publicized for months.
When Gibson first came on he was a fireball, and yes he is a liberal, but he was objective back then...I thought.
