Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has kicked up a media firestorm since John McCain announced she would be his vice presidential running mate.
In the two weeks since the announcement, Palin, 44, has been attacked for being a bad mom, an inexperienced bimbo and a vapid ex-beauty contestant.
Many people have also been frantically searching the Internet for sexy photos of Sarah Palin, and apparently hit pay dirt when saucy photos of Palin toting a rifle wearing a star-spangled bikini were uncovered. However, those photos--like the rumors that Palin's son Trig is actually her grandson--are fake.
Whether you agree with Palin's politics or not (personally, I don't), attacking her teenage daughter and mothering skills and manufacturing sexist images in order to undermine her credibility is a transparent attack on her gender. Sadly, we as a country just can't move past our prejudices. On the other hand, is this any worse than the New Yorker magazine cover which featured Barack Obama and his wife Michelle as gun-toting Muslim terrorists? Here's a novel idea: Let's just stick to the issues.

Reminds me of Gunnery Sgt. Tom Highway in "Heartbreak Ridge," as he finished live-firing an AK not so far over the heads of his Marines:

I got sent the bikini photo over the weekend, plus the one where she’s in a tight, short skirt, and let the person that sent it to me know they are both fakes. I’m not expert on photoshop, but they did a great job on that bikini one IMO.

just look at the two photos and you can easily tell that they cut her face out of her official photo and put that on someone body / hair. the creases in the corners of her mouth, the lighting on her cheeks, chin, and lips, even the shadow of her bangs that falls on her forehead (just below the “G” in “VOGUE”)...

Ummm...who cares if it was real? Presidential/VP candidates should have never worn bathing suits in their past? Especially bikinis? They should never have posed in a goofy picture at a party or cookout?
The girl in the original pic has a nice body, despite those that think she’s ‘heavy’ or ‘fat’. Curves, nicely shaped legs, a defined waist - too many people think that gaunt, concaved tummy and thighs that thinner than the knees are a ‘hot bod’ nowadays. But even if had turned out to be Palin...what is the point? Who cares? I wouldn’t think a like photo would be considered a skeleton in the closet.
