Palin's Daughter Is Lucky
Heartford Courant ^ | 9.08.07 | ROBYN BLUMNER

I find so-called "values voters" to be completely inscrutable.

First, their "values" seem to revolve entirely around their opposition to: abortion rights, promiscuity, gay marriage, sex-education and church-state separation. Values including compassion, tolerance, generosity and humanity do not apply.

But then, when these voters are confronted with politically conservative candidates who seem to defy the Christian Right's rigid prescription for moral behavior, they shrug. No biggie.

When I look at the ticket of McCain-Palin, I see a guy who was a playboy, who left his first wife after she stood by him, raising his children, until his release as a POW. I see a VP pick who gave birth a mere eight months after eloping, whose husband has had trouble with the concept of a designated driver, and whose pregnant 17-year-old daughter is unmarried.

But what really burns my begonias is not this explicit hypocrisy. It is that the Christian Right is positively jubilant over the fact that Sarah Palin's daughter intends to keep the baby and get married.......

John McCain has stood up during this political campaigna and practically confessed his sin in this matter. I believe he believes he has sinned in this regard. What else can one do? I forgive him as I believe his first wife forgives him. He came back from POW camp changed, in some ways not so good. I think he was probably in some ways mentally ill, who wouldn’t be? Not an excuse to dump his wife, for sure, but whatever. I’m not going to look at “stable” marriage to one person as the only criteria for whom to cast my vote. Obama may have this quality in in column, but so did Bill Clinton and we all know what he’s about. I don’t give too much credence to those LS stories either, but you never know...the truth is in there somewhere and the reaction from the BO camp makes you wonder.

John McCain has stood up and said this was THE greatest moral failing of his life. I forgive him, that’s what Christians do and these little punks will never get that until they also accept Jesus and understand what being a Christian is all about.

“Saruman, Saruman!” said Gandalf still laughing. “Saruman, you missed your path in life. You should have been the king’s jester and earned your bread, and stripes too, by mimicking his counsellors. Ah me!” he paused, getting the better of his mirth. “Understand one another? I fear I am beyond your comprehension. But you, Saruman, I understand now too well. I keep a clearer memory of your arguments, and deeds, than you suppose.”

Have sex, get pregnant, get married. It’s what our parents did, and what our grandparents did.

If every couple who was pregnant when they got married voted for McCain, he'd win in a 50 (or 57) state landslide.

Why do “feminists” and “liberals” get so outraged when women actually exercise their “reproductive rights” by reproducing?

There is the ideal that we should all strive to live in our lives and then there are the curveballs and personal failings that we must atone for and deal with.

The Left's solution is to kill the baby and pretend "none of this EVER happened". Through no fault of the baby, the baby is told, "your life isn't worth it and trust us this is all for the best, it wouldn't be a quality life anyway...".

Even for those who have teens who experiment with homosexuality, it is still your kid. Sonny Bono accepted Chastity, the liberal Cher was the one who had a harder time with it.

Ultimately we are all responsible for our own actions. Others can try to help us make the right decisions but people will have personal weaknesses.

The Left pushes the sex positive agenda which seeks to end all moral judgments over all sexual pairings regardless of sex, age, relation, marital status, number, or species of partner(s). If extramarital sex is so "normal" why is an married pregnancy still such a big shocker? Isn't that making a moral judgment?

The Left has called Bristol a whore (literally). If she hadn't gotten pregnant but still fooled around, would everything have been "ok" in their eyes? No. This is just gotcha gossip. They are trying to turn off the religious right base but they don't have an understand of what faith and biblical teachings are so they are shocked when their tactic fails.

It is mind boggling that abortion advocates make economic arguments for killing babies.

It is so amusing to see the sudden moralizing from the proponents of promiscuity, perversion and infanticide!

What atheists don't comprehend about Christians is, we are ALL sinners, Christians are just forgiven sinners. Fornication, that is sex without marriage, is a sin. A "no doubt about it" sin. The thing is, Christians don't swear that it isn't a sin. They admit that it is wrong and shouldn't be done. The liberals are the ones that say God is a liar and sex without marriage is OK.

Now go look in ANY church you want to, and it is almost 100% that you will find someone in the church fornicating, some church family member fornicating, or someone even in leadership of the church fornicating. It's no different an organization than a school, club, or other group of people that meet. Christians just admit it's not the right thing to do, ask forgiveness, and repent of their sin.

Just consider a homosexual. They are in churches and the Army. They are in schools and in the Boy Scouts. If a homosexual finds Christ and repents, then he must rely on Christ to change him and he no longer looks at his sin as "normal". An atheist homosexual is saying God is a lier and is in rebellion against God. It's the rebellion that God hates about our sin. He knows we sin and still sent His Son to erase our sin. But you have to admit it is a sin.

All over America today, their are unmarried teens fornicating and getting pregnant. Some are Christian church goers and others aren't. For the Christian, it's a mistake and a sin to be ashamed of. For the atheist, it a badge of honor and you can always kill your baby if you don't want it. There is a huge difference. Palin's daughter's sin is no worse than getting caught stealing, or any other sin. Having an abortion would just make it two sins from one. I'm sure no one is happy at the Palin household, but you move on and try not to make the same mistake again.

We all want and expect our children to be sinless, but we are continually disappointed. There is still only ONE sinless One. Being and staying in rebellion to God remains the eternal problem. Repent and come back to God and He is quick to forgive. This same child could have been caught shoplifting and been just as guilty of a sin. As long as she admitted that what she did was against God's Law and repented, what else should be required of her?

Great line. It also typifies the way most atheists think about Christians.

Why do the libs think that they have a lock on compassion, tolerance, generosity and humanity?

No, you've got it all wrong. It's not compassionate, tolerant, or generous, unless the federal government does it.

Very true. I can’t even stand to visit the Science section at Digg because 80% of the articles are some kind of slam on Christianity. The comments there are a great illustration of that principle. That whole website has been overrun by liberals of the worst order.

So, I guess the author thinks that Bristol should kill the baby because she and Levi will make more money if they do?
