I am sick of the McCain voted with Bush argument, so I compared Obama's with the do nothing Senate Leader 9% Harry Reid in 110th Congress.
Total Votes 635
Not Voting 289
Yea 214
Nay 132
Total Votes 346
With Reid 318
% with Reid 92%
Obama was "Not Voting" 55% of the time and when he voted it was with Reid 92% of the time. This needs to get repeated over and over and over.
thanks for the info
I wouldn't mind seeing this become one of our campaign's talking points. It further blunts his suggestion that he is a true change agent.
Gosh, send this to the McCain campaign
This is wonderful!!! Well done!!!
Good rebuttal. The problem, though, is the Democrats are using the statistic to tie McCain to Bush. They really don’t care how he voted on anything. The Democrats plan is to link McCain to Bush and stoke the fires of Bush hatred they have worked so hard to invent.
Moreover, the vast majority of the voted with Bush votes have been on things that were not important but the daily BS the Senate votes on to make themselves feel important.
Still, at least now we have a rebuttal without having to explain it all.
Obama, no hope, no change, no vision. Just the same old same old thing
How about this response? Bush doesn’t VOTE, he’s the President! He vetoes or he signs, but gets NO VOTE!
Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., the charismatic, messianic Magic Negro, actually showed up and recorded a vote?
And here I thought he had been absent much more than he had been present.
Which brings up a pet peeve for this session - now that the major players are all selected and vetted for the Presidential and Vice Presidential slots on each of the major party tickets, they should resign from their present positions and just run full-time and full speed for the higher office to which they aspire. At the very least, it would take two Democrats out of the US Senate. It would show the courage of their convictions. And sure, Senator McCain and Governor Palin would also abide by that rule, but neither Biden nor Obama are brave enough to take the step.
After all, it was considered only “fair” that Bob Dole resigned his seat to run full time in 1996, even though the dice were already loaded against him.
And Congress has 9% rating. Maybe it’s come up lately since they’ve been GONE.
This should be useful not to tie Obama with Reid (nobody knows him), but to show that Obama has almost never deviated from his party's line. McCain's 90% was only the past year, when the Congress was already in Dim's hands. Before, he often bucked the Republicans (to our disappointment), but shows his maverick status.
Obama runs as a 'new kind of politican' who supposedly goes beyond racial, party, and ideology. The votes figure shows that he's basically an ordinary politican. What's extraordinary about him is changes his positions so fast and often.
Considering that the Majority Leader will, from time to time, vote nay on an issue he favors in order to keep the debate open; I think that its fair to assume that Obama’s true percentage is actually higher. And this is the man who is going to bring the two America’s together? Certainly haven’t seen any evidence lately.
It might be useful if, along with the statistics, the campaign commercial identified who Dingy Harry is and showed video clips of some of his nastiest speeches and comments, such as the one where he says “the war is lost.”
I think that should be a different ad aimed at the Dim congress directly. Also use the single digit approval ratings. Rove already suggested this for a while. Americans will shift the blame to congress and want to have a divided government (Republican WH and Dim Congress). We might even pick up one or two seats along the line.
Good approach. I’ll try that.
Be very, very careful where you go with this. McCain’s record of not showing up for votes IS WORSE THAN OBAMA’S!!
Great point.
Why doesn’t McCain run against Dingy Harry and 9% Nancy the MAJORITY leaders of the worst Senate/ House leaders in history?
