Gov. Sarah Palin's church is promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer."You'll be encouraged by the power of God's love and His desire to transform the lives of those impacted by homosexuality," according to the insert in the bulletin of the Wasilla Bible Church, where Palin has prayed for about six years.
Palin's conservative Christian views have energized that part of the GOP electorate, which was lukewarm to John McCain's candidacy before he named her as his vice presidential choice. She is staunchly anti-abortion, opposing exceptions for rape and incest, and opposes gay marriage and spousal rights for gay couples.
Focus on the Family, a national Christian fundamentalist organization, is conducting the "Love Won Out" Conference in Anchorage, about 30 miles from Wasilla.

You reckon folks think that the men gather before the conference and kidnap gays and try to force them to convert? They won’t admit it, but there are people in the gay lifestyle that don’t want to be there. This conference is for them. There IS hope in Jesus.

There’s one thing I’m confused about. If you’re gay, you’re just gay and nobody should try to change that. But if you’re born a male but feel you should have been born a female it’s OK to go to extreme measures, even mutilating your body, to try to become a female?

If you suffer from same-sex attraction disorder, that is because you were the victim of a molestation or seduction in the pre-adult years, and that disorder is treatable.
(BTW, since the last time I posted this on FR, I was in a discussion with yet another SSAD sufferer who was insisting that it wasn’t true that the disorder is precipitated by a molestation or seduction in the pre-adult years. Turns out he himself was seduced as a teenager, and had convinced himself that he had “always” been “gay” because he wasn’t a jock as a boy, and because he liked the society of girls.
When I told him that lots of guys are not jocks — are downright effeminate — but don’t develop SSAD unless traumatized by a molestation or seduction, he looked very shocked. He said, “You mean, if I hadn’t met that guy I...” Then he turned around and left.)
Lots of SSAD sufferers will deny that molestation or seduction vehemently, but if you stay with it long enough, it ******always, always, always******* comes out sooner or later.
Yes, I know the truth. What I was referring to was what appears to be insanity on the left - sexual preference is immutable but gender can be changed.
