Rocky Mountain high for McCain-Palin

The GOP ticket, making its debut in the West, draws a monster crowd into a Colorado Springs airport hangar.

The campaign had 15,000 RSVPs, and 10,000 have already gone through Secret Service as the rally gets underway on a gorgeous Rocky Mountain day.

As with yesterday in Wisconsin and Michigan, there are not just more people but significantly more excitement and anticipation than at past McCain rallies.

“And they need to nationalize this election to some extent to aid congressional candidates on major issues.”

Exactly. And I’ll bet it’s already in the game plan, but first they have to show momentum building (as is now happening.) Then all the Republican candidates that have been trying to go it alone (without Bush) will start to seek national party support again. Given the way McCain and Palin are drawing crowds now, a local Republican candidate would be crazy not to want to be part of the event. Quite a change in just one week.

“Quite a change in just one week.”

Yes, but there are some real problems in specific issues if the national ticket is to be of any help in congressional races. Amnesty for one, and then what is still a joke position on drilling (offshore, but only if states agree) that might amount to very little.

It won’t help to nationalize the election unless McCain backs away from some of his “maverick” and “reaching across the aisle” nonsense. He would harm many candidates as it stands now.

I heard that today they would be in Albuquerque New Mexico. Starting Monday they would campaign separately to cover more ground. You did notice two separate air planes at the rally. The Gazette Telegraph reported a campaign spokesman said 13,000 people had gone through security checks. There were no arrest reported, traffic issues were the only problems. It was a great rally, GO Maverick and the Barracuda.

Don’t forget the “ How is she going to take care of the 5 children and be Vice President? “ Well that is easy, Track will be deployed and Bristol will be Mrs. Levi Johnston. Now we are down to three children, any more questions for the future Vice President?

Influential Republicans need to put more and more pressure on McCain to take a real, aggressive position on domestic energy production (including ANWR and off all coastal states)

her name is Sarah Palin

when I’m hungry, I walk 2 blocks for some pizza (I’m from NYC)

when someone from the suburbs is hungry, he drives to the closest Pizza Hut or KFC

when someone from a small town is hungry, restaurants are a big treat. They go to the supermarket and cook their own food.

When Sarah Palin is hungry, she has to go out at 3 AM and hunt a moose.
