WASHINGTON (AP) – John McCain pledges that if elected president, he'd appoint Democrats to his Cabinet.

He says there's nothing partisan about tackling the nation's toughest problems.

In an interview taped today for airing tomorrow, McCain tells CBS's "Face the Nation" he intends to have the best people in America in Cabinet.

It's believed that McCain closely considered Senator Joe Lieberman as a running mate. The Connecticut independent is a former Democrat.

“And didn't the media claim he was considering Lieberman for the vice president spot? Tell me, how did that work out. I forget.”

It was supposed to be between Ridge and Lieberman - awful picks. Instead Sarah Palin got it.

We still have to win this election or didn’t you notice.

That's all that matters. The Republicans must win. We don't care if Democrats are appointed by McCain. The party must win. Everything else is just irrelevant.

No wonder the number of people switching to independent are increasing every single year.

I sincerely hope his learning curve is quicker than dubya’s.

There is one thing that Republicans need to square themselves with. McCain is going to have to deal with a Democratic Congress. That is because Republican representatives sold their souls for pork and sold out their supporters. McCain didn't do that. Republicans did.

When are you guys going to wake up and figure out you’re being played by the media.

Hint: politicians like Zell Miller are democrats. They’re the ones who are still trying to yank the dem party away form Marxist and Socialism.

Give him Homeland Security

A conservative would bury homeland security.

He’s a lot like Bush in a particular way.

No kidding? What a surprise!

And now that McCain has announced he'll be appointing leftist Democrats, you neoRepublicans better quickly come up with some new excuses as to why this must be done for the "better of the party".

Getting that Charlton Heston ape movie feeling.

It's a mad house.

He WILL let her share her views. I see her as someone who would just resign. She won’t be conned. This is a CNN piece - it’s just to put ‘doubt’ in the minds of voters.

Lieberman for State or Def is fine, Zell Miller would work for me also.

As would Mitt Romney, as long as it is not as Attorney General. I just hope the majority are not like this and are good, conservative, and Republicans.

I’m just happy he put a conservative on the ticket. The rats have outregistered us. We absolutely need independents to win this thing. A month ago we were looking at a one party rule. Think of the damage they could do with Obama in the White House. It’s part of the McCain team’s strategy and they haven’t done bad so far. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I’d hear Republicans get on that convention stage and say the things they said. I’m not letting this throw my support for McCain.

OK John, Joe Lieberman at State, Zell Miller at Defense, Paul Volcker at the Treasury, Ed Koch at HUD, and that’s enough!

who he was considering.........isn't it obvious how squishy McPain is?

It's not what he was considering, it's what he ending up doing. What is squishy is that YOU can't see that. He isn't using Sarah - no one 'uses' her. You can't see that either.

Palin? Four years??...What?

You think I'm going to vote for Mr. amnesty, who says he's going to appoint Democrats so maybe Palin can be elected in 4 years from now?

This is a political twilight zone.

Hey, vote for the liberal president, so maybe his vice president will be elected president some day?

How stupid can these suckers be?

We don't care if Democrats are appointed by McCain.

Wait til they get a load of Hil 'n' Bill on the Supreme Court. He couldn't have the woman he wanted as VP, so he'll find a suitable job for her somewhere.

As long as that person is the most qualified. However, the way I read this, it almost sounds like an affirmative action or quota pick. Hope I am wrong.
