Obama considered joining military, regrets abortion answer By: Mike Allen September 7, 2008 09:11 AM EST

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) says his answer about abortion at the Saddleback Church forum was “probably” too flip.

During separate televised interviews last month, Pastor Rick Warren asked the two presidential candidates when a baby gets human rights. Obama replied that the question is “above my pay grade,” while Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) won love from the right by saying quickly, “At the moment of conception.”

Now, Obama tells ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in an interview taped for “This Week”: “What I intended to say is that, as a Christian, I have a lot of humility about understanding when does the soul enter into … It's a pretty tough question. And so, all I meant to communicate was that I don't presume to be able to answer these kinds of theological questions.”

And what is so stingingly ironic, is that if legal, unrestricted abortion was widely available in 1961 as it is today, Obama’s aethiestic, communinistic mother would have likely aborted him.

Who cares about “when the soul enters the body”? Since when is the United States a theocracy?

I agree. We could be a purely atheistic nation, and the regard for the sanctity of human life would still be an absolute necessity, just as the regard for private property would be. These things are absolutely essential to the survival of any society.

I should have said, I should have done.

God help us if he actually gets elected.

The only (remotely) believable reason 0bama would have ever considered joining the military would have been to pull a Kerry. To establish a record of military service in order to enhance any future run for political office.
Considering how far he's managed to get on so little, that's not very likely either.

OB once considered joining the military.

Right. He got that old coin ready and flipped it...
Heads I stay home
Tails I don’t go in

IS IT TRUE THAT JOHN KERRY IS HIS ADVISOR?

All these ‘flips’ sound familiar....

That was my biggest hope for our current President.
I was condident that he would use the soapbox as a weapon.
He “pardoned” Bill, and then he “allowed” China to hold our AWAC crewman hostage, but most important our plane was torn apart and returned in pieces. (Hopefully my memory is correct). I was disappointed in that right off that bat.
I also think he made the wrong moves after 9/11.
A manhatten project to get us off our oil addiction, which funds the muzzies would have served the intersets of American citizens much better then what we have now.
Protect our borders and restore pride in being the owner of a USA passport. I could go on.
If he had been more forceful on all issues he would have been a much more effective President and we would not have lost Congress.
President Bush sat at the desk but he didnt lead.

Bottom line.... He could have been a great man but he choose the new world disorder instead.

Wouldn’t he have to show his birth certificate?

No birth certificate required to join the army he would choose. The Taliban accepts all who will follow.

He considered joining the military? He might as well have said, "I considered becoming a prisoner of war but they wouldn't have me, really, I tried", what a dumb a**.

Hey, BHO, babies are alive from the moment of conception! Killing them any time after that is murdering a baby, pure and simple, no theological argument needed.

Somebody should tell Obama that there both crappy answers.

And if he tries to give answers like those in a live debate, as opposed to an interview by some sycophantic, fellow-travelling reporter, he's going to get creamed.

Obama can’t ever admit he’s wrong. That’s a serious character flaw.

It took him a month to come up with a “better” answer which is still a complete non-answer but makes him look marginally less like an idiot.

Obama disclosed that he had once considered serving in the military.

Does he mention this in either of his two memoirs? If not, McCain should turn this into an ad.

It’s pretty sad that a guy who wants to be President can’t remember what he “intended” to say until a month later.

Imagine, we are 3 weeks into world war 4 with Russia, and President Obama addresses the American People:

“You know, when I told Putin that last month, what I INTENDED to say was”.....

Zerobama requests a Mulligan. A do-over.

And then another.

This pattern is closely related to voting Present.

A coward cannot change his stripe. We cannot afford another coward in the White House. Recall that Clinton was incapable of making the decision to kill Osama bin Laden when we had him in our sights.

He makes it sound like the world was at peace in 1979.

Iranian militants seize US embassy in Teheran and hold Americans hostage.

The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan

Commuinst China invasion of Vietnam.

Commuinst Sandinista takeover in Nicaragua.

USA breaking relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan) and establishing them with Communist China.

Jimmy Carter gives away the Panama Canal

Perhaps Obama didn’t consider these events significant enough to consider military service. The Democratic party did nothing but weaken the United States at home and abroad. Maybe Obama didn’t join the military in 1979 because Jimmy Carter was the Commander in Chief.

The best thing that happened in 1979 was the election of Margaret Thatcher. The election of Ronald Reagan the following year would begin the long process of cleaning up the mess left by Democrats and restoring America’s strength around the world.
