Sarah Palin has gotten some rough treatment from the media since John McCain announced his vice presidential pick. In her speech last week, she gave a little jab back at "all those reporters and commentators." That won't likely win her many new admirers in the Washington press corps. But Rasmussen has a new poll out that suggests that piling on Mrs. Palin may do more to harm the media's own image than hers.
According to Rasmussen, fully 68% of voters believe that "most reporters try to help the candidate they want to win." And -- no surprise -- 49% of those surveyed believe reporters are backing Barack Obama, while just 14% think the media is in the tank for Sen. McCain.

55% [of respondents] said media bias is a bigger problem for the electoral process than large campaign donations
"Media bias" is a (very, very) large campaign donation.
Thanks, Senator McCain for giving us the McCain/Feingold law, aka: The Media Empowerment Act, Rather’s Law, The Incumbent Protection Act, Get the Little Guy Out of Elections Law.
:-). Sounds like the general population is realizing what we have known for years or maybe they too already knew it and this is just one of the first polls of it? Either way there is a comfort that the larger population realizes this.
Unfortunately, the Dims might use the above number to push for the Fairness Doctrine Law.
Veto Pen. I think Srah will keep the Senate closer and pick up house seats.
This is interesting. Where did you find this? My son is working on a paper on politics and political process for his school homework and I tried to do a search for this and could not find it. If you still have a link or source could you please post it. Thanks
I too would like to know the source of that table. It might come in handy.

THe properties show that gif is from Investor’s Business Daily, but I have no idea of the date.
The original article appeared in the American Thinker blog before the reprint in IBD Editorials. The original article names and links to source material (and the table is not an image but a list).

My goodness! I had no idea! ;-)
Thanks for those links. Sent the link to the Thinker piece to someone already.
“Papers have ALWAYS been political” YES! And they were the better for it!

” I’ve asked my wife to get separate checks for her donations because I don’t want my name to appear on checks she signs and sends to causes and politicians.”
Timothy J. McNulty X-Public Editor The Chicago Tribune
Former editor Mcnulty seems to think the left and right hands can be disconnected.
Mcnulty and his ilk are in good part responsible for the death of the American newspaper.
I enjoy listening to or reading Garrison Keillor for he clearly states that he is a liberal, no suspension of disbelief required!
Why is it so few liberals come out of the closet? Most conservatives are proud of their beliefs.
Perhaps now that Mcnulty is retired he will tell us all about his voting record?
I’d like to meet on of the 14%, just to see if they were a real person. I’ll bet this number was fudged. I can’t believe anybody would think the press is for McCain.
