Palin to Obama: Oh no you didn’t (Sarahcuda delivers the smackdown to B. Hussein Obama)
Fox ^ | 9/6/08

Posted on 09/07/2008 1:19:29 AM PDT by Chet 99

ALBUQUERQUE, NM– Gov. Palin hit back at Sen. Obama during an evening rally in the Land of Enchantment Saturday, arguing that the Democrat is in no place to lecture her on federal earmark requests.

The Democratic presidential nominee told an Indiana crowd today that Palin is a flip flopper when it comes to requesting federal dollars for state projects, noting that her recent criticism of the earmark process comes only after years of advocating for earmarks for her city and state.

“When you’ve been taking all these earmarks when it is convenient and then suddenly you are the champion anti-earmark person, that’s not change. Come on! I mean, words mean something. You can’t just make stuff up,” Obama said.

Palin, who received millions in earmarks for projects during her time as mayor of Wasilla, returned fire tonight in front of more than 6,000 supporters.

“Today our opponent brought up earmarks and frankly I was surprised that he raised the subject. I didn’t think he’d want to go there,” she said. “Our opponent has requested nearly one billion dollars in earmarks in just three years…about a million dollars for every working day. Just wait until President John McCain puts a stop to that.”

What a crowd!! It’s going to be sad to have to let her go back to Alaska for a few days, but I understand that she needs to arrange matters there since she left almost on the spur of the moment.

John McCain and his campaign staff must be loving all this attention and enthusiasm (so long as they don’t feel too overshadowed by Palinmania). I don’t think they were getting any crowds like this before Governor Palin joined the campaign.

As long as she absolutely never backs down, and stays on the offensive (with that smile on her face), she cannot lose. It’s impossible. The McCain campaign needs to find a way to keep the public a little hungry - - don’t overexpose her in TV ads or, especially, on the TV talk show circuit. There’s plenty of time for that stuff after the election.

“She eventually rejected the specific earmark but the state still received an equivalent amount of federal money for use on other transportation projects”

the bridge would have been much more than what Alaska actually received.

Biden is even worse. Biden voted against the earmark reform that Obama, Hillary, Bayh and McCaskill (I think they thought they’d be likely VP’s) voted for.

Biden has a long history of porky politics.

IMO, earmarks are a problem when abused (ethically), but in no way is it going to, “wither on the vine.” The FedGov is one big cash trough...with strings attached.
