ZOGBY: MCCAIN UP 4%

UTICA, New York - Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin left St. Paul, Minnesota, with a smallish bounce overall and some energy in key demographic groups, as the race for the presidency enters a key stage and voters begin to tune in to the contest, the latest Zogby Interactive poll finds.

Data from this poll is available here The McCain/Palin ticket wins 49.7% support, compared to 45.9% backing for the Obama/Biden ticket, this latest online survey shows. Another 4.4% either favored someone else or were unsure.

In a Zogby Interactive survey conducted last weekend, just after the McCain announcement that Palin would join his ticket, McCain Palin won 47.1% support, while Obama/Biden won 44.6% support.

The interactive survey of 2,312 likely voters nationwide was conducted Sept. 5-6, 2008, and carries a margin of error of +/- 2.1 percentage points.

Pollster John Zogby: "Clearly, Palin is helping the McCain ticket. She has high favorability numbers, and has unified the Republican Party. The striking thing here in this poll is that McCain has pulled ahead among Catholics by double-digits. On the other hand, Palin is not helping with likely voting women who are not aligned with either political party. The undecided independent women voters decreased this week from 15% to 7%, but those women went to Obama. Palin is also helping among men, conservatives, notably with suburban and rural voters, and with frequent Wal-Mart shoppers, who tend to be "values" voters who like a good value for their money."

McCain's favorability rating increased from 50% favorable last week to 57% favorable now, a significant jump that indicates the GOP convention was a success. Among independent voters, 61% now have a favorable impression of him, compared to just 49% who said the same a week ago.

Nearly half - 49% - said they had a favorable opinion of Barack Obama, while 50% they had a negative impression of him. Among independent voters, 47% gave him favorable marks, compared to 46% who said the same thing last week.

Among the vice presidential candidates, 54% said they now hold a favorable view of Palin, while 42% hold an unfavorable view. While 49% have a favorable opinion of Joe Biden, 47% hold an unfavorable view of him.

Just one week ago, 23% told Zogby that they did not know enough about Palin to make a judgment about whether they held a favorable or unfavorable view of her - but this most recent survey shows just 4% were unfamiliar with her - another indication that likely voters paid attention to the GOP convention this week, which won the highest television viewership numbers ever earned by an American political convention.

Zogby International was the most accurate pollster in every one of the last three presidential election cycles, and continues to perfect its telephone and interactive methodologies using its own live operator, in-house call center in Upstate New York, and its own secure servers for its online polling projects.

In the 2004 presidential election, not only was Zogby's telephone polling right on the money, its interactive polling also nailed the election as well. In 2006, the Zogby Interactive online polling was on the money in 17 of 18 U.S. Senate races (the 18th was within the margin of error) a record of accuracy that is unmatched in the industry - as no other leading firm even attempts to poll statewide political races using an interactive methodology for public consumption.

Speaking of polls, I had my first call from Gallup the other day. It was kind of cool — “Gallup” showed up on my caller ID, so I knew beforehand who it was.

The Lamentations of the Liberal Man-Women is ALREADY beginning.

I offer this Diary from KOS titled “Are Americans REALLY This Freaking Stupid!?”, posted 25 MINUTES ago on KOS as evidence:

“What planet am I living on? What kind of brain-dead MORONS is this country filled with?

WTF is in the WATER, people??

Or is Rasmussen completely and totally full of shit?

Because this either means that Americans are the stooopidest people on the face of the freaking earth, or Rasmussen is completely pulling these numbers out of their ass, as yet another form of media propaganda, you know, the kind Mark Penn is hired to do by the CIA in other countries.

So which is it?”

I’d guess this KOS’r is actually a EUROLIB, rather than US resident, though.

Another KOS’r, though OBVIOUSLY suffering from Derangement Syndrome, is beginning to see the future, though...

“YES, America is this stupid (0+ / 0-)
In the 4 years since 2004, we haven’t gotten any smarter, I tell you that. Palin is another Bush. And after 8 years of Bush, America is ready to fall in love with Bush all over again.

This election has come down to a central conflict.

America’s economic struggles vs. America’s stupidity.

I don’t think we are going to win.”

We got massacred in 2006 by losing votes in Congressional and Gubernatorial races. Since then the economy has worsened, nothing substantial has been accomplished. The partisan gridlock is the worst it has ever been. Calls for ethics reform have fizzled and Congress’ approval ratings have plummeted to single digits. Democrat party had their chance and they failed to deliver.

Americans have been taken for a ride and I’m sure they’ve learned from their mistakes.

This is why I think that McCain will win and stem the bleeding in the Congress. GOP is in a much better position now than it was in 2006. The Democrat party can’t whine again by pointing out that GOP controls all 3 branches. They are out of favors and in a losing position.

I’ve thought McCain was going to crush Obama all along, but now with Gov. Palin on board, I’m starting to think the word crush is an understatement.

Its the values, stupid. Liberals think presidential elections are framed only in terms of pocketbook issues and material satisfaction. In truth, people consider longer range effects such as the moral condition of the country and who best can keep America safe abroad and at home. It comes down to the character of the candidates. Those are the type of issues the MSM routinely dismisses as unimportant. And every four years the American people have the habit of springing an unwelcome surprise on their betters.

Sort of reminds me of the scene in the 2nd or 3rd movie of the LORD of the RINGS were you saw the leader of the trees come across the forest, and sighs, and then crys a loud cry, and then goes on to say this is war... and then in the following scenes you see a full assault on the evil bad guys, and you see one of the trees break down the dam..... Sarah is the one who kicked in the DEMS wall..

In a Poll with a 10%+ Democrat polling bias, not including BRADLEY EFFECT.

We got Obama with the Bradley affect
But Democrats even the score by huge vote cheating in inner cities like Philadelphia. Where enough cheating can win Obama PA which is a close race

Heh, at the end of the children’s sermon in church a couple weeks ago, our associate pastor let one of the kids say a closing prayer. The little boy, around 6 or 7, gives a fairly standard “thank you for...” prayer up until “And, Lord, please let John McCain beat Barack Obama in the election.” Everyone in the pews is stunned silent, though no doubt in complete agreement with him. I’m the assistant minister for the day and am sitting up on the altar hunched over in a ball trying to suppress my cackling. :D

I’m praying that we can overcome all the coming election fraud with the strength of the ticket.

Yes.... Liberals/DEMS/MSM are that delusional.

2 Thessalonians 2:11

International Standard Version
For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie.

King James Bible
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

I was telling my dad yesterday that I think the Bradley effect is going to be huge. The media has built up Obama so much that you’re telling the poll questioner that you’re voting against The Messiah of the World himself if you say you’re not voting Barack. Their biased chik-kens are comin’ hooome to roost!!

Tell them,,, God heard his prayer... God listens to prayers to humble hearts.
Let me ask you ? since you are a minister.

We have heard from those ilk like Micheal Moore that he said that GOD was on the side of the Democrats because he sent that hurricane towards New Orleans..... and we have heard from Liberals that GOD is on their side... and that Liberals claim that conservatives have hijacked Christianity,, so forth and so forth ? right ? you head all that ?

Now ? the question is ? do you honestly think God is on the side of the Liberals/Democrats/MSN side if they support and believe in : i.e. Gay rights ? Abortions ? anti-God ideology ?
It's the old argument of who's side is GOD really on... but, looking from what both sides believe in, that should give you a good idea who God listens to.
