The battle lines have been drawn, and the battle between the culture of death and those who celebrate life is ready to begin anew.
I speak not of the legalities of abortion or of the obvious unconstitutionality of the Roe v. Wade decision but of the choices we make as people and of those we elect to lead us.
In the Saddleback Civil Forum held by Pastor Rick Warren when asked the question, At what point does a baby get human rights, in your view?
John McCain answered without hesitation, At the moment of conception.
Barack Obamas now infamous answer to the same question was, Whether youre looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity is above my pay grade.
John McCain answered the question like a leader who knows who he is and what he believes in.
Barack Obama answered the question like a cowardly politician who was afraid to tell the public what he really thought.
I know why Obama answered the way he did, because Ive been debating radical abortionists my entire adult life.
Obama dodged the question because he was basically asked, When does human life begin?
Supporters of abortion will always dodge the When life begins question, because they know, what science proved long ago: that human life begins at conception.
The problem for pro-abortionists is that if they admit human life begins at conception, then they admit to infanticide, which is a kinder, gentler word for the killing of a baby.
Obama was trying to avoid the John Kerry conundrum. In 2004, supposedly Catholic John Kerry said he believed that life began at conception which created a real problem for John Kerry with Catholics and others who hold human life to be sacred. If you believe that life begins at conception, then you are honor-bound as a moral human being to oppose abortion.
Faux Catholic Joe Biden has exactly the same problem as faux Catholic John Kerry. To be a Catholic is to believe that life begins at conception. To deny an unborn child the right to life is to deny Catholicism.
The other argument abortionists make to justify their beliefs is that a fully developed human life is somehow worth more than a developing human life, and since ending that developing life is a moral decision, it is a matter of personal choice.
That is a very ugly and morally untenable argument for a politician to try and make. Pro-abortion politicians would much rather pretend that they dont know when life begins and say its a religious issue and not one of science.
Over the years, I have known and debated more than a few people, none of whom were running for President like Obama, who were very articulate and passionate in defense of their pro-abortion stance. While I did not agree with them, I did respect them for having an argument worthy of debate.
If Barack Obama wants to be President of the United States, then he needs to tell us exactly where he stands on abortion and why. A man who wants to lead the free world cant dodge the big stuff.
Ah, and now, finally, I come to the leader who completes John McCain. A leader I have been waiting for, a leader who will finally end the preposterous link between womens rights and the right to life.
We have been told by the mainstream media that women like her do not exist. We have been told that in order to be a modern independent woman, a woman had to reject the sanctity of life and embrace the abominable culture of death. We were not told that women comprise the majority of the pro-life movement and that the number of women in pro-family organizations dwarfs the number of shrews that belong to organizations like N.O.W.
Male conservatives have always known about women like Sarah Palin. We work alongside them in politics. We admire them. If they run for office, we vote for them, and those of us who can, marry them. The Feminists for Life website has been bookmarked in my browser for years.
When four months into her last pregnancy, Governor Sarah Palin found out she was carrying a child with Downs Syndrome, she went ahead and gave birth to her son, Trig, and said he was, Perfect in my eyes.
With that one act, Sarah Palin proved she had more courage and character in her little pinky than Barack Obama and Joe Biden have in their whole bodies.
Sarah Palin radiates life and strength in the same way tens of millions of her fellow American women do who raise their kids, work a job, and still manage to anchor the traditional American family.
I will work hard to elect a woman like that. I will follow a woman like Sarah Palin.
I hope that one day on the campaign trail, I will be able to meet Sarah and her son, Trig. I hope to see Trig smile, because I know, that for now, in this mortal life, his smile will be the closest I can get to seeing the face of God.
The answer can be found in this passage of Romans.
16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
The leftists are “proud rebels.” They want the power of deciding what’s right and wrong taken away from God and given to them. Saying there are no absolutes lets them be stalinists - sure, we starved a lot of people, but the cause was worth it. And killing babies is very profitable.
Note, most Liberals are “Ex-Catholics” or “Non-practicing Jews” who maybe hit a church for a wedding or Easter/Yom Kippur.
I had a small epiphany today while mowing my lawn (yes, a white 39-year old guy doing yard work himself to save the $30) I think that effectively conservatives can take adversity as part of life, but will persevere if they hammer at it long enough...Liberals think that they are ENTITLED to a flawless, perfect lifestyle with no sacrifice of themselves...note not many Liberals are in the military and compared to Conservatives, give less to charity in monetary gifts or volunteer hours.
The Conservative wants a fishing pole so he can catch fish for himself to eat and if he works hard enough, can sell and make money or feed other family members...the Liberal is sitting at the table expecting a fish dinner, and will complain if there is the wrong kind of tartar sauce or if he finds a bone...
Liberals are effectively misguided do-gooders that are truly just needy and lazy.
Beautiful!!!
John McCain answered without hesitation, At the moment of conception. ... Barack Obamas now infamous answer ... "is above my pay grade."Barry tried voting "Present", just like he did 130 times in the IL Legislature. But the POTUS can't say "Present" when that phone rings at 3:00 a.m.John McCain answered the question like a leader who knows who he is and what he believes in. ... Barack Obama answered the question like a cowardly politician ...
Well he could. But then we're all d-e-a-d.
You took the words right out of my mouth!
The most beautiful line of Sarah Palin’s speech was when she was speaking of her family and said, “We have the same challenges and the same joys and sometimes the greatest joys bring the greatest challenges.”
Whether she wrote it or not, she believed that truth and delivered it with a poignancy that spoke to me and millions of other women like me.
In one fell swoop she shut down those who criticized her for having a teenage daughter who is pregnant and planning to give birth to her child. And those who doubt her judgment in giving birth to a handicapped child.Sarah Palin laid bare a simple truth that the left must deny. Life is not and never will be perfect.
The liberals have an unrelenting desire to avoid any and all discomfort, unhappiness, illness, inconvenience and failure. Some call it utopian vision. This desire to eliminate any and all suffering has been used to justify an anything goes, the ends justifies the means mentality that is beyond destructive, individually and as a nation.
That is why when the left looks upon little Trig, they see only his deformity and believe he should have been spared the struggles his life will hold.
Sarah doesn’t see it that way, she sees instead the incredibly pure love of a seven year old sister gently stroking and kissing the head of her brother. What joy she must feel when she views that video knowing that this little baby has taught her other children about unselfish love, true compassion for others and that though life isn’t perfect, each person is perfect in the eyes of a God who loves them. That is the true utopian vision.
I concur. Life, in any form, is precious, unless jailed or starving.
If you have an opportunity, take it and enjoy it.
Life is too short to think you are missing out on things or you should have better...you have it great, being alive and healthy in the US in 2008...I can’t speak for 2009, but for now, I have food and a house. With Obama, Africa will have food and housing, but we will be without.
That is the Liberal dream, to supplant via government extortion wealth and lack of morality to be accepted by all in the name of Marxism.
