I disagree. I think you underestimate the libertarian wing in the GOP.

Then again, in the words of that great poet and philosopher William Joel:

You may be wrong,
But for all I know,
You may be right

This libertarian leaning conservative is firmly in McCain’s corner after his nomination of Sarah Palin. Now, if he hadn’t nominated her, it would have been a different story for a lot of us.

There is strong libertarian sentiment in the Republican party but they tend to be practical rather than fanatci libertarians..and there is the recent lesson of Perot and Nader.

In a 50/50 nation, the party that splits most, loses.

I don't know what Dr. Paul is trying to do here. With the nomination of Sarah Palin for VP, that pretty much has united the GOP. Even Palin has given her support to Paul during the GOP primaries.

I think it's too little, too late for Paul. The time to unite the Libertarian and Constitution parties was last year. Now both parties have become completely irrelevant with McCain's brilliant pick of Palin.
