In 2000 Dubya made a short visit to Columbia MO, at the regional airport...I took my two little kids and had a great time!
Would love to see McCain/Palin repeat that!!
MIssouri is a few points up - but McCain cannot afford to lose Missouri because he's ahead here....
The SW and NW parts of the state are safe and now he needs to shore up STL AND KC with the blue collar Reagan Dems and the older voters like those living at John Knox Village. I think there will be a much bigger crowd than the couple of thousand that the auditorium can accomodate.
John Knox is the type of place I’d love to live in when I retire.
Don’t live there any more but visit several times a year. Love Union Station, Crown Center, the lights on the Plaza at Christmas. The downtown renovation is awesome. You all should be proud. Don’t miss the JOCO property tax bills just before Christmas however!! Re Highway 50 which eventually turns into Johnson Drive which turns into K7, which leads to K.U.. I would think that Union Station or in front of the War Memorial would have been a great place to have the rally. Don’t know if you frequent the new race track. Used to drive a tractor over part of that area when I was but 12! Great memories.
I don't think even McCain/Palin could sell out the Kansas Speedway . . .
But it would be cool to try . . .
FYI another thread on the Lee’s Summit rally here:

Oops. Disregard last post. I think this thread got retitled . . . the hazards of having multiple tabs open in your browser.
I’ll be good now . . .
Surprisingly, KC has a few good places to go. If you like memorials, on Broadway, just south of Westport and just north of the Plaza is KC’s Vietnam war memorial. A smaller version of the one on the National Mall.
By the way, where ya from originally?
Cool, did you grow up in Lee’s Summit specifically? I was born and raised in Lee’s Summit, lived on the western side between the two legs of (the new) Longview Lake.
It is big - we used to go to demo derby in Riverside oh so long ago. Don’t know if it’s still there. By memory I don’t recall that there are a lot of places that would accommodate a huge gathering of people but I’m sure things have changed. Didn’t the Lee’s Summit location used to be something else? I’m thinking a church of some kind?
Local news tonight said a crowd of 3,000 was expected. Overflow facilities were being set up to allow those who couldn’t get into the venue to hear the proceedings.
Awesome. It is on Monday - most of the people in that part of the world work so.... Couple of my old high school buds said they are going to go to bed early tonight so they can get up and go early tomorrow. They live in Kansas and would love to get rid of their Governor. TNX.
Believe you may have been talking about Sedalia?? Sedona is in Arizona - just north of Phoenix. Am in Texas now but all my wonderful memories - 40 plus years - are split between KC and Arizona.
