The McCain Campaign announced a rally set for Monday morning in suburban Lee's Summit, Missouri. Both Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin will appear at the John Knox facility there at 0830. Tickets are not required but the facility's capacity is limited and attendees will be seated first come first served.

Ping!
Everything’s up-to-date in Kansas City
Sweet (regards to my hometown, ironically I’ve been looking at photos from Google Maps and oldkc.com)
Rock The heart of America!
Start a fire!
Rats, I’m too busy to drive up to KC on Monday
I’ve been here for over ten years and hardly ever go downtown but today we actually visited the Nelson-Atkins Museum. What a treasure it is! The National World War I Museum is FIRST CLASS as well. I’m quite proud of my adopted hometown, thank you.
Not nearly big enough.
Me too. I’m in Overland Park but can’t take off half a day.
I thought M/P were supposed to be in Alburquerque today...WERE they?
I’m definitely thinking of going, and bringing my camera. It’s only about five miles from where I live . . .
(I have to clear it with the better half, of course . . . and see if she wants to go, too, naturally.)
Not sure, checking now.
KOAT-TV in Albuquerque sez they were at a rally there this afternoon. A story is posted with quotes of some attendees to the rally. www.KOAT.com/news
We got malls and freeways and everything! (grin)
Kansas City (the metro area) is laid out a bit strangely. Basically there's three or four high areas between streams that run into the Missouri River those areas run basically southwest to northeast up to the actual Missouri River valley.
Downtown Kansas City and most of suburban Johnson County, Kansas is on top of one of those high areas. Independence (Harry Truman's hometown) and some other suburbs are on top of the next hilltop east and south of the main one. Lee's Summit is on the next one east and south after that (hence the "Summit" in the town's name.)
Live in TX now but grew up in OP, graduated from high school there, raised my family there. Sent all my high school buds who live there notice of rally. Told them they needed to get up early and go but could take a nap when they got home (most are retired). Not sure why they picked Lee’s Summit. Way, way out of the mainstream. Somewhere in Overland Park would have been better, I think (although that is on the Kansas side of the line). The Kansas gov refused to sign bill for clean coal - she needs to know Governor Sarah is coming!
So you know the topography . . . cool!
And come on, Lee’s Summit needs a bone every once in a while . . . y’all JoCo folks get everything (well, everything that doesn’t go downtown).
The Pavillion at John Knox Village (a retirement community, for those not in the know) is a pyramid-shaped auditorium. Not sure how much it seats . . . I’d guess 1-2,000 based on my impression from driving by it on U.S. 50 (or, “50 Highway” as the locals say here).
It will be cozy.
I just Googled it and . . . a couple of thousand people would probably be somewhat beyond standing room only for the facility.
Get in line early if you’re gonna go . . .
Can you imagine the fury if they came to Kansas? There isn’t a chance (yet) of turning Kansas blue so I’m glad they’ll be in MO. John Knox was a great place to pick since it is a retirement community in the heart of KC. Nip the “the Republicans will take away your SS and healthcare” nonsense in the bud as soon as possible.
Did you go to South or West? I graduated from East.
