Using post-mo lingo: the feminists are angry that their ideals of women, that privilege the liberal ideology, is being subverted by Palin.

I know that time is never kind, I’m reminded every time I look in the mirror. When I look at Gloria I see that it isn’t only unkind sometimes it is vicious and, dare I say it, just.

OK, this tees me off more than I thought. She has NO CLUE what went into selecting Sarah. She is not an "Appeasement". Gloria with her commentary is turning Sarah into an OBJECT projecting her own fears of being used onto Sarah. She says these things about McCain & Palin, but does she mention about Obama? Palin has WAY more experience than Obama, and he's running for PRESIDENT. This woman is an idiot if she really believes these things, and it's not all propaganda.

Sarah is a strong, intelligent, fully capable woman who embodies almost everything Steinman has supposedly tried to explain over the years that women were capable of achieving (all except the getting away with murder part)! And now when she is proved right essentially she turns around and disparages her as an object that is being used to lure "stupid women" who would vote based on sex instead of being true to their beliefs? That's what Gloria's afraid of because her followers do NOT have strong convictions. After they hear a strong, fair intelligent woman like Sarah, Steinam and her co-horts in the "Women's Movement" look like a bunch of idiots. I could probably go on and on about Steinam and her brand of "woman-hate". Because truly she isn't about "sisterhood" at all if she dares say these things about Sarah.

Glo-rea Steinem was pretty much a total babe several decades ago; she's probably extremely bitter that life -- and her goals -- have passed her by.

She would be exuberant about Palin.....if she were honest.

she isn't about "sisterhood"

I guess I never understood the 'sisterhood' thing in the first place. I am my own person and not part of a group of anything. I make my decisions based on my beliefs and not some 'sisterhood' thing.

Bill Maher made some comments to that effect earlier today, I believe it referenced Obama graduating with honors from Harvard while his detractors are paving driveways with their brother in law and shopping at Wal Mart. I guess it never occurred to him that person shopping at Wally World was spending their own hard earned money something that his St. Obama has precious little experience with and one of those driveway pavers has more executive experience than the Messiah has even if they opened for business yesterday.
I guess the real problem with thinking that your smarter than everyone else is that you think you don’t have to think before you pontificate.

“Feminism isn’t about one job for one woman.”

Of course, that would be INDIVIDUALISM.

Feminism is its opposite, COLLECTIVISM: the individual woman, just like an individual who happens to be black, has no worth other than as a proxy for females (or blacks) collectively.

To the left, there is no worth in the accomplishments of great individuals as they add value to the world and are rewarded for it. The only thing worth celebrating is chaining those accomplished individuals down, and sacrificing them in the name of some victory the collective can rejoice in (while living in equal poverty).

“...cosmeticize a Republican convention that has more than twice as many male delegates as female...”

Little known fact. The democrat national committe delegate selection rules require all states to select an equal number of male and female delegates. Yes, there is a quota system. Does this person think all jobs should be awarded by quota?

I’ve noticed that old fat liberal women have contempt, hate and are jealous of Sarah. This opinion writer whom I’ve never heard of and the Oprah Winfrey’s & the Campbell Brown’s of the world are proving just that.

“biancardi” answers:

What Drama? Oh you mean all the drama from the republican side, because they can’t have Palin speak to the American people just yet?

Obama/Biden, imho, will win. Lot more voter turnout, we’ve(because I worked on HRC campaign here) been registering people in much higher numbers and we’ve got more small donors which add up to lots of money to get the message out there PROPERLY and CORRECTLY.

Obama has to fight both the Muslim charge and he attended a Hate-filled Christian Church crap. As well as somehow not being patriotic, which I don’t know how one gets to that conclusion at all.

So, I feel pretty good about november. once people really hear Palin talk about issues and not about her 5 kids and hockey, not a problem.

Talk about IDIOTS...these are some of the Steinham/Obama followers. They are PRAYING for the National Enquirer to find dirt on Sarah Palin. SICKO!

But, it was ‘just about sex’ when it was Bill Clinton in the OVAL OFFICE with an intern.

Hey, I am strapped for money but sent a large amount Obama’s way because the nasties on this BB are so very insulting and nasty.

Not nervous—just shooting with my hard earned money, not my empty head and/or my nasty mouth.

Well, maybe I am nervous. You betcha. We’ve had 8 years of theocracy and Carl Rove strategies, which are fascist. The country is a world debtor. Loss of jobs. No national border security. But lots of money for bread and circuses, a la the late days of the Roman empire.

The USA needs to be a democracy again.

Did you hear the grenades going off outside the building on the evening of McCain’s speech? 500 people arrested for protesting. The internet people who documented police abuse at the 2004 convention were involuntarily detained in their hotel room so they couldn’t cover it. Their coverage documented police abuse in — was it NYC in 2004? — and vacated hundreds of convictions of protesters.

This used to be America, not China. The Republican stance—listen to their ads, look at how they treat dissent—isn’t bi-partisan. It isn’t reaching across the aisles. The McCain ads about Brittany and Paris? Non partisan?

How long will people listen to this big huge fat lie and swallow it as truth?

If people were this quiescent to arrogant, monied power in 1776, we would still be singing “God Save the Queen.”

Obama’s running against McCain, not the governor of Alaska, and the electoral map is still looking good for the Democrats and registrations are way up.

I won’t vote for McCain — but it’s not because his running mate might have abused the power of her office for a personal vendetta or because she purportedly used slurs against blacks and women when hearing Obama beat HRC or because she plays fast and loose with the truth (the jet) or because she sat in HER church a few weeks ago and listened to anti-Semitic ranting or because she wanted to ban books or because she’s the most extremist candidate since Goldwater or because...well, all the other stuff.

I’ll say again: my favorite new phrase is one I read last weekend: the willfully ignorant.

In Alaska, thanks to the current governor “Big game hunters are happy to pay lots of money to shoot wolves and bears from the air. They also chase them across the snow to the point of exhaustion and then land the planes on skis, shooting them from point-blank range.” — From independent dot co dot uk

Ms. Steinhem: What do Sarah Palin, Catherine The Great, Joan d’Arc, Margaret Thatcher, Golda Meir, and Elizabeths I & II have in common? They share a chromosome! So please, just shut your pie hole and crawl back to the obscurity you so richly deserve.

Neither do I really, but apparently according to the liberals that’s part of what the movement was about... Supporting each other as women. They are more about judging based on gender than any other groups... It’s the same thing that has happened in the Civil Rights movement — they have to keep the problems alive in order to stay relevant — even if they are the ones causing the problems in the first place, IMHO.
