Sarah Palin: northern star injects new life into lumbering campaign

An extraordinary display of raw political talent could trump Obama’s ‘pretty speeches’ and rally the religious right

The enthusiasm generated by Sarah Palin, the Republican party’s new “northern star”, on her first tour of Middle America this weekend has revived Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign to such a remarkable extent that she is outshining her running mate.

It is an unprecedented position of power for a vice-presidential candidate that carries great risks and rewards for McCain as he adjusts to operating in the shadow of a political phenomenon.

As the McCain-Palin road show took to the suburbs and small towns in the Republican party’s target states, fans were running to see her rather than McCain, the 72-year-old former Vietnam prisoner of war.

“I only found out half an hour ago that she was coming,” said Brenda River, 45, a hairdresser, mother of four and grandmother, as she hurried to the Freedom Hill amphitheatre in a conservative suburb of Detroit, Michigan. “I’m in her shoes, totally. I love her.”

The North Star is used to find your direction when lost.

It’s a good name for Palin.

Reading media reports, its interesting how the MSM is sure to mention that the crowds always come from “conservative” leaning areas.
We didnt hear Bama’s crowds coming from “liberal” leaning areas.

The Northern Star

Eight stars of gold on a field of blue -
Alaska's flag. May it mean to you The mountain lakes, and the flowers nearby;
The gold of the early sourdough's dreams,
The precious gold of the hills and streams;
The brilliant stars in the northern sky,
The "Bear" - the "Dipper" - and, shining high,
The great North Star with its steady light,
Over land and sea a beacon bright.
Alaska's flag - to Alaskans dear,
The simple flag of a last frontier.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus

I love it! She is our North Star. We need bumper stickers and tshirts, etc.

I really like Sarah because she is pro life and conservative. The only thing that doesn't appeal to me is the way she keeps talking about how she kills pathetic animals. I love animals and can't see how anyone could kill such a beautiful creature as a moose. Why would anyone want to kill Bullwinkle J. Moose?

It’s called ‘Game Management’. Look it up sometime. It’s good for the species.

It’s just a different way of feeding her family. What’s wrong with that?

Let me assure you wild animals DO NOT LOVE YOU !

From their standpoint at worst you are either a annoyance or a threat at best prey.

There is too little food in the wild to support all the animals. If a few aren’t hunted and killed then many more would die a slow painful death by starvation.

Food. D@mn good food.

Never had moose, but I have had caribou, and it is some of the finest venison I have ever eaten. If I lived in Alaska I'd kill one every year.
