A poll conducted from August 23-27 by DFM Research of 400 likely voters shows Obama leading 43% to 40% with 5% Other and 12% Unsure (margin of error +/- 5%).
This is the first ND Poll since February showing Obama Leading in North Dakota. (Real Clear Politics has McCain up +3, +1, and +6 in the last 3 polls and Obama up +4 in February)
I spoke with Dean Mitchell of DFM Research Today and he stated that the poll was conducted during the DNC Convention with polling ending the day prior to Obama's speech.
The full results are listed below and it includes some polling on the Governors Race and the Insurance Commissioner Race. Hoeven leads Mathern by 44 Percentage Points (63 to 19) and Kelly Schmidt leads Mitch Vance in the treasurer race by 22% to 17% with 59% Unsure.
I’m not good at predicting. But I’ll go out on a limb. This election will see a record turnout and McCain wil carry all 57 states.
You polled citizens in a bar, but not those living resident of a graveyard. There you’ll find Obama voters overwhelming McCain’s
This ‘news’ is about as fresh as homemade potato salad made on August 23rd. I wouldn’t eat the potato salad and I’m not believing an old, biased poll. They’re both stale and rotten.
Agree, no way.
The probably polled the 4 people browsing in the GLBT section of the Barnes and Noble in Fargo for the poll data.

Republicans need:
Ohio 20, Florida 27,Virginia 13,Nevada 5, north Carolina 15, Indiana 11
total of 91 add to what he will get for sure: 174 = 265
He needs: Colorado 9
I don’t think he will get new Mexico 5
265 + 9 = 274 He really needs Colorado and the ones above..
CO + NV + OH
or
CO + NH + OH
I bet (and hope) on the first...
I would not be so sure about ND. Ed Schultz originates his program from Fargo and the Eastern side of ND along the Red River has over half the population of ND. Also, Fargo is the second largest site for Microsoft in the US and most of those people are Obama supporters. Add the two Universities and the influence of the Minnesota media on the area and it is not hard to see why it is becoming closer. Remember that both Senators and the lone representative are Democrats. McCain needs the active support of the popular Republican governor.
The Republican governor has a hudge lead and was (gasp)
endorsed by the NDEA, North Dakota Education Association.
I lived in ND most of my life and was somewhat active in
Republican politics.
The state Democrat party is well organized but Obama carrying ND seems very unlikely.
Fargo is the home of NDSU-it has its share of left-wing professors in the hummanities department but it has strong programs in engineering and agricultural sciences. Over the years the district that includes NDSU has provide good conservative legislators.
nObama has already pulled money from Georgia and given up on the south and they want us to believe that he is moving that money to buy ads in ND?
I hope it were true, but I don't even think Bob Shrum would have done something that stupid, let along David A$$holdRod.
The Indonesian is inexperiened and shallow...
In the dark voting booths across America, people will inform the street hustler their opinion/
The MSM is in freefall after Palin...
No fear!! With Sarah on the ticket, McCain will win ND by 10-15 points!!
They probably polled mostly in Fargo and Grand Forks. That’s where their two largest universities are located. It’s likely overloaaded with educators’ opinions.
We were taught in the old days that any poll having a confidence factor of 5% or more was hardly valid and should be tossed out.
This poll is a joke.
The latest Rasmussen Poll for ND has McCain up +14 over Odumbo. 55-McCain, 41-Odumbo.
