Yanks should give thanks for Sarah (Brit tab: "Unlike Barack Obama, she is the real thing")

 Gutsy ... Sarah Palin

Gutsy ... Sarah Palin

Yanks should give thanks for Sarah

DON’T you wish we had politicians like American Republican Sarah Palin instead of the identikit, spineless amoebas that infest Westminster?

This woman has got more balls than most British male MPs. She would get my vote in an instant.

She’s a real gutsy, good-looking woman who is truly the epitome of the feminist dream.

She comes from working-class stock, has used her brains and looks to get on and has carved out a great career as a politician and Governor.

Unlike Barack Obama, she is the real thing — an ordinary person with more than a dream and a snake oil salesman’s patter.

While Obama has been touring the world like a cross between Bono and Saint Bob, she has been raising children and coping with the real pressures of family life. I love the way she stuck to her principles and refused to abort her Down’s syndrome baby. She is firmly against the termination of children and isn’t afraid to express her anti-abortion views.

She’s hard-line on the death penalty and obviously subscribes to her dad’s bumper sticker view that a vegetarian is just a bad hunter.

Threat

In short, she’s my kind of gal — and I suspect most of America’s too.

Last week some thought John McCain had a fight on his hands as he took on Obama, the Bloated Broadcasting Corporation (who have almost canonised the inexperienced and untested kid) and the world’s press.

But this week, with wonder woman by his side, it’s become a walk in the park. Now, the opposition are trying to undermine this very real threat to the Messiah by criticising Palin’s daughter for getting pregnant and Sarah for wanting to keep it quiet.

However, this is another own goal from the so-called Chosen One because, surely, Sarah is only doing what any mum would do and trying to protect her daughter.

No doubt — just like I would if faced with that scenario — she probably went ape on hearing of the pregnancy but, very soon after, she was there supporting her just like and any other decent parent.

What real family doesn’t or hasn’t had to face similar problems?

As for her daughter’s 18-year-old boyfriend writing stupid comments on his website, which one if us wasn’t guilty of being stupid when we were teenagers?

And, besides, I would rather someone was straight and called themselves an effing redneck, than pretend they were Mother Teresa, JFK or Barack Obama.

We need real people in politics with real-life experiences and it would appear that, at last, America has found their own Mrs T.

I can’t wait for the next 60 days to be over and for the man the press would have us believe can walk on water to drown in a tidal wave of his own hype.

And, for the record, if I wasn’t married, yes I would.

But thank you anyway  :-)

YOURS, however, is MUCH better...it obviously took a lot of time and care and love to make   :-)

Thank you for the update!

Ahh I posted that comment before Quinn was finished the interview.

As Ms Didi noted," She still ended up saying that Sarah is a woman with five kids, one of which is a disabled child, who need an enormous amount of time and effort. “I need to know as a citizen—will she put her country or children first. You can’t do it all.”—

We have some older British friends (90’s) who are solidly Labour. Their children late 60’s and 70’s are also pretty liberal, read clueless. They hated Thatcher, referred to her as “That Woman”. The funny thing is that they moan and groan incessantly about what has happened to their Country and then they blame George Bush and the fact that Blair was his friend!!!!
We have had some pretty interesting discussions and only the longevity and deep love and commitment in this friendship keeps it from shattering.

I agree, these folks have a great way with words a great humor!

I enjoy their works more than I do most here in the US.

They can be very biting.

WOW---nice 'apology'.  LMAO

The Left simply CANNOT say a nice, congenial, gracious thing about anyone who isn't a fellow traveler....they always have to add some snotty backhanded slap to it....given that Leftist politics, for many of them, has become their religion, it would be as if a Christian were to say something nice about Lucifer.  It's just not gonna happen.

Having this sickness on full display to the public is delightful to see, as it will rub anyone with an ounce of quality upbringing and honor the wrong way and will serve to benefit the good guys and gals.  The Left and their media brethren are in full meltdown mode.

It's almost worth turning on the TV again to see it firsthand ((((shudder))))

Considering the time until Election Day, I suppose I should invest in a quality popcorn popper so that I can relax properly and revel in the slow, excruciating death of the Dems  :-)

You've done far better than I've been able to.  On every occasion in which I've entered into a political conversation with a friend for the first time, and upon doing so discovered that he / she was on the Left, it was the end of the friendship, at least in large measure, or things have never been the same.

I suppose that when you talk with someone (such as a stoat) who with just a few words based entirely in demonstrable fact shatters your entire worldview, it's difficult to pick up the pieces again.  Perhaps I'm too direct, but on the other hand most all tenets that the Left holds dear are easily rendered asunder and done so with such little effort, it's hard to pinpoint an area where I might be overly cruel or harsh.

I've adopted a policy of simply avoiding all political discussions with people unless they insist, as the vast majority on the Left are simply unable to deal with a calmly-presented bit of logic that just happens to destroy their worldview.  :-)

WOW....sounds amazing, although I’m sure that it will take far less than 5 pints to get to my head!
Thank you so much, I’ll have to try that :-)

the cider is supposed to be champagne but we use cider/scrumpy as we can’t afford half a pint of champagne all the time

poor mans black velvet

if poured right the cider and Guinness should be separated, some pubs in England will not serve it as it is strong

Black Velvet (beer cocktail) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The drink was first created by the bartender of the Brooks's Club of London in 1861, to mourn the passing of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's Prince Consort [1]. It is supposed to symbolise the black or purple cloth armbands worn by mourners.

Thank you so much manc, it's amazing what one can learn on the internet!

Cheers!  :-)

,,, any American who hasn't realised what a magnificent chance they have in electing Sarah Palin should look south of the border and see what New Zealand is stuck with and has been stuck with for the last nine years. Our elections are in November as well - there's a better chance than ever she'll be voted out then and land her coveted job at the UN. She isn't big on America, so save her a table at the back of the restaurant, near the toilets, with enough elbow room for Chavez and Hillary. New York, you'll love her!
