Yanks should give thanks for Sarah (Brit tab: "Unlike Barack Obama, she is the real thing")

 Gutsy ... Sarah Palin

Gutsy ... Sarah Palin

Yanks should give thanks for Sarah

DON’T you wish we had politicians like American Republican Sarah Palin instead of the identikit, spineless amoebas that infest Westminster?

This woman has got more balls than most British male MPs. She would get my vote in an instant.

She’s a real gutsy, good-looking woman who is truly the epitome of the feminist dream.

She comes from working-class stock, has used her brains and looks to get on and has carved out a great career as a politician and Governor.

Unlike Barack Obama, she is the real thing — an ordinary person with more than a dream and a snake oil salesman’s patter.

While Obama has been touring the world like a cross between Bono and Saint Bob, she has been raising children and coping with the real pressures of family life. I love the way she stuck to her principles and refused to abort her Down’s syndrome baby. She is firmly against the termination of children and isn’t afraid to express her anti-abortion views.

She’s hard-line on the death penalty and obviously subscribes to her dad’s bumper sticker view that a vegetarian is just a bad hunter.

Threat

In short, she’s my kind of gal — and I suspect most of America’s too.

Last week some thought John McCain had a fight on his hands as he took on Obama, the Bloated Broadcasting Corporation (who have almost canonised the inexperienced and untested kid) and the world’s press.

But this week, with wonder woman by his side, it’s become a walk in the park. Now, the opposition are trying to undermine this very real threat to the Messiah by criticising Palin’s daughter for getting pregnant and Sarah for wanting to keep it quiet.

However, this is another own goal from the so-called Chosen One because, surely, Sarah is only doing what any mum would do and trying to protect her daughter.

No doubt — just like I would if faced with that scenario — she probably went ape on hearing of the pregnancy but, very soon after, she was there supporting her just like and any other decent parent.

What real family doesn’t or hasn’t had to face similar problems?

As for her daughter’s 18-year-old boyfriend writing stupid comments on his website, which one if us wasn’t guilty of being stupid when we were teenagers?

And, besides, I would rather someone was straight and called themselves an effing redneck, than pretend they were Mother Teresa, JFK or Barack Obama.

We need real people in politics with real-life experiences and it would appear that, at last, America has found their own Mrs T.

I can’t wait for the next 60 days to be over and for the man the press would have us believe can walk on water to drown in a tidal wave of his own hype.

And, for the record, if I wasn’t married, yes I would.

My parents lived in England during the early 50’s when they were newlyweds. My father was a junior officer in the Air Force. My parents lived on the economy and the older couple next door sort of took them under their wing and our longtime multi-generational friendship was born. My father and “Uncle Don” are now deceased. “Aunt Connie” is in her upper-mid 90’s. My mother is mid 70’s, their daughter is early 70’s and their son mid 60’s. I am friends with both of them and our children have also developed friendships. We have always visited back and forth and corresponded frequently by letter in those days before these days of easy phoning. Really it is more than friendship, sort of like family that one was able to choose. It has lasted over 50 years and is very dear to all of us. If this stuff came from someone I just met I would walk away. As it is from those I truly love, I give it some grace. I figure they do the same on their end. ;) They probably think we’re just a crazy as we sometimes think they are. lol

About the phoning, when I was young, it was an ordeal to get to speak to them for a few very expensive minutes and we did so only with the most urgent news. You had to get the overseas operator who would take their info then ring you back when she was able to connect. Sometimes it took hours! Today, so very easy and so inexpensive!

What a lovely story and you are obviously going about things the right way. It’s very nice that even though your friends have polar-opposite views they are still able to avoid the hysteria that is so common among most on the Left that I’ve met.

The long-distance telephone thing was a huge part of my parents’ lives as well....they corresponded overseas for seven years before they were able to marry and never phoned as it was just too difficult.

Thank you very much for pinging your list, and thank you also for you kind words for Governor Palin...I'm thinking that she'll make us all proud  :-)

Good luck to you also in your upcoming elections...when I visited NZ I found the people to be among the nicest, kindest and friendliest folks ever, despite the fact that I'm a Yank  :-)  You all deserve far better than the woman you describe.

 Thank You

They may hate it, but I’ll bet they love it when Iran and the islamofacists want him to win.

OOfftaa, I tried one once. I can eat most anything, but not sea snaky things. I did love the English breakfasts and some of their fish and chips. Had a great time shopping and found a tartan shop...didn’t think we had so many different colored tartans in my family. It was fun.

FOXNEWS is pretty good for a news channel.

Free Republic covers it very well also.

,,, FOX is. They’ve had a mix of commentators from the left and although it’s hyper obviously right wing, it certainly strives for some balance.

I don’t know about the ownership of The Sun, sorry.

I haven’t seen any significant negatives about her in the foreign press yet, certainly nothing so utterly boorish and low-class as B. Hussein 0bama comparing her to a pig, which he did the other day.

But then again Socialists generally don’t pay special deference to Ladies, as in their view everyone is a Proletariat Worker anyhow.

Another yardstick that can be used to judge a man is how he treats women....and B. Hussein 0bama failed that test in spades, if you’ll pardon the pun. :-)
