(I got it recorded to DVD)
What? Heart has no heart?
theres a shock...not
The artists are right and the RNC is wrong. You can’t use someone else’s intellectual property without their permission, and “Barracuda” is doubtlessly still under copyright.
Having said that, it might have been in the artists’ interests to let it go, because the RNC effectively gave them advertising worth six figures if not more. The publicity would probably have led to increased album sales (and royalties). As someone (PT Barnum or Cecil B. DeMille, I’m not sure which) once said, the only bad publicity is no publicity.
I think it is funny that Candace Bergen is scared...Talk about out of touch. Pallin and even McCain know what real people are. Hollywood so called stars are sinking their own boat. I can’t hardly stand to watch many movies these days
Typical DemoLiberal no class, white trash, subservient to the DemoFeminazi Agenda of being selfish drunkie/junkie baby butchers, and, subservient to the “Deathocrat Party”,..uhhhm.. females.
Neither one of them is worth the price of the garbage bags to throw them away.
OK, hippies.
Turnabout is fair play.
Shouldn’t some 17th century British naturalist who named this particular fish, sue Heart for usurping the name “Barracuda”?
Technically, they are right. I dunno the legal details, but publicly playing a copyrighted song requires paying a royalty fee (or, I suppose, requires the indulgence of the copyright holder in NOT getting paid), doesn’t it? Particularly if the song is put to a “featured” or thematic use as opposed to being played just in the background (among other songs)?
Hypocritical.....
Hey hey hey the guy who played Brooks and Dunn at the democrat convention told us it was perfectly OK to use songs without permission.
Reportedly, one of the sisters was so incensed that she sent a personal missive to McCain, asking him-
“How do I get you alone?”
Hmmmm.....leftist artists object to the use of their material by Republicans.....? How Bebe Le Strange.....
There was a brief flare-up of this sort suggesting that the female entertainer (don’t know here name) whose guitar riffs are used by Rush Limbaugh as theme music had objected to Rush using it. Rush offered on the air to stop using it, but then, if there ever were any objections, the artist decided the $40,000+ plus per year was pretty nice.
I remember thinking, “What is that horrible noise?” I hope the GOP stops playing it so I don’t have to use the mute button.
I had forgotten this song until the producers used it during a scene in the remake of Charlie’s Angels where Lucy Liu poses as an efficiency expert. It is a hilarious scene, and I think of that when I think of Sarah Palin taking on the Washington insiders.
I’m all for deciding where the fruits of my labors are put to use. From this point forward my taxdollars are to go to the following: Supporting our troops, supporting our schools, building our roads, etc., They are NOT to go to: Welfare queens, bike paths in Massachusetts, free college for minorities. This musical group is on to something and I’m all for it.
