The mother of a missing Florida toddler has been released from jail. Casey Anthony walked out of the Orange County Jail on Friday morning, donning an ankle monitoring bracelet and a white T-shirt featuring her 3-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony. She is charged with child abuse and making false statements to investigators.
Caylee was reported missing in mid-July from Orlando. The girl hadn't been seen for a month before Anthony told authorities.
Detectives have said Anthony's trunk had contained a decomposing body and that it was likely her daughter's. However, no other charges have been filed against Anthony.
Prosecutors asked for a high bond, hoping Anthony wouldn't be able to get out. Two local bond agencies posted the $500,000 bond for her Thursday.
Allen Moore, a spokesman for the Orange County jail, said Thursday night that Casey Anthony is required to wear an ankle monitoring bracelet and it takes longer to process such releases, he said.
Earlier this week, investigators said that FBI lab tests and other evidence indicated a decomposing body had been in Casey Anthony's car trunk at some point, and it was likely her daughter's.
Anthony is charged with child abuse and making false statements to investigators, which were filed soon after she reported her daughter missing. Last week, she also was charged with check fraud and theft and returned to jail.
Prosecutors have called her the prime suspect in what appears to be a murder case, but have not filed those charges. Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, has said repeatedly his client doesn't know what happened to her daughter.
"There's always that possibility that at a later date more charges could be brought on her," Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Carlos Padilla said Thursday.
The first time Anthony was released, a California bond business paid her bail. Anthony was returned to jail just a week later after sheriff's deputies recommended the new charges. She has posted that required, and much lower, bail, but remained jailed after the bond agency withdrew its money.
The bond was posted by MacDonald Bail Bonds of Kissimmee and by the Von Waldner Bail Bond Agency as a transfer bond from Miller Bonds in Kissimmee, according to a statement from the jail.
At a July hearing, detectives disclosed finding hair strands and a suspicious stain in Anthony's trunk, which had been left for days at a check-cashing business before being towed. Those who went near the car said it smelled of human decomposition.
In Florida, it is unlawful to hold someone without bail on the lesser charges Anthony faces, so prosecutors in July requested a high bond they hoped she couldn't make.
Anthony can’t be too stupid. So far he’s kept his daughter from being arrested for murder, and himself and his wife from being charged as accessories.
My brother is a sociopath, diagnosed at an early age back in the late 60’s early 70’s. He’s now 52 and hasn’t changed on bit..........
I heard on Nancy Grace’s show that the people bailing her out want movie and book rights.
Don’t know how true it is.
Yes, they have an “official spokesperson” now. They are probably looking for an “agent” also................(book deal, movie rights, etc)..................disgusting........
there was talk about an outfit from TN interesting in movie rights to the story...possible motivation for posting bond?
Possibly true. Tennessee? Carthage, Tennessee?.........
I saw that. I don’t know. But this whole thing is making me wonder if Casey Anthony doesn’t have something on one or both of her parents. Maybe the DA offered immunity to the wrong Anthony.
I haven’t heard this about Cindy A. washing bloody pants. Can you fill me in with a bit more information on it?
Cindy talked about washing the bloody pants on Greta’s show
They took Casey to Universal where she claimed she worked the day the police where contacted by Cindy.
Her dad George is a former homicide cop .
Cindy her mom is a nurse ..
The family is heavily in debt , 2 mortages , I believe they filed bankruptcy before & they are using donations to pay for there high power skummy lawyer & a family spokesman .
Casey is most likely having sexual relations with her lawyer Baez :( Casey has had many sexual relations with men in power especially cops . One sherrif’s deputy was fired for lieing about him having sexual relations with Casey.
Casey lawyer is working pro bono but Casey was with him from 9 - 4 & even Mickey Sherman defense lawyer said that was unheard off .
Casey might say if she is charged with murder I was doing my lawyer so I need to go FREE because we were intimiate & I didn’t get represented correctly :(((
That was the word. If this is true, the whole family is sleazy.
Actually, none of them act like they care anymore about this kid. We keep hearing all of nutcase Cindy’s wild rantings about the kid being seen in South America and all.
The whole damn family is certifiable. A total difference from Lacy Peterson’s family. They acted like they cared about their missing daughter.
I Think Cindy & George are in on it too ....
When Cindy attacked Tim Miller alot of bloggers where infuriated ...
Cindy doesn’t want the body found because she doesn’t want to go to jail .
Cindy told that to Greta on Greta’s show .
I must have missed that interview. In all honesty, I’d rather spend the day at a mental facility for the criminally insane then watch Cindy Anthony speek.
However, if she did wash bloody pants and has not turned them over to the police (DNA can still be pulled in most cases, even after washing) then she should go direcly to jail. For that reason and many others.
Something tells me, by the time investigators get their entire case set and put in front of a jury, Florida is going to need to break ground on a new prison just to hold the entire Anthony family.
She did wash Casey’s pants. But there has been no report that these were bloody.
No one knows that the pants were bloody. Cindy just said, when she finally mentioned taking them out of the car and washing them, that they were dirty.
The only good I can see about her being bonded out is that it stops the clock on “time served” when it comes to sentencing. She can’t apply any time she served on home arrest to her final tally of (hopefully)the many years she will be sentenced to.
