Apparently, Ann and Nancy Wilson are suing the McCain/Palin campaign over use of "Barracuda"

Ann and Nancy Wilson are pissed at the Republican Party and have fired off a cease and desist letter to the McCain/Palin campaign.

Specifically, the Heart women are upset that the GOP has used their classic "Barracuda" as a theme song for Sarah Palin. TMZ obtained a statement from Heart's rep, who says "The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission."

The statement goes on: "We have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music. We hope our wishes will be honored."

We're told Ann was watching TV today and heard the song at the convention when Palin was touted.

What about “White Boy” from “Baron vonTollbopthand the Chrome Nun”? sometimes I think this could be an anthem for conservatives. Although it is bit esoteric.

You’ve got that right. I remember reading an article a few years ago about a Pretenders concert. When they started playing My City Was Gone, the crowd went wild and started screaming for Rush. LOL!

If the song is over 17 years old its a moot point.

Barracuda reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the spring of 1977.

Perhaps Sarah Palin partisans should use "The Barracuda" by Alvin Cash & the Crawlers, from 1965.

Outside of Grace Slick, They are the best female vocalists whoever graced the planet.

my favorite female vocalist is Vera Lynn, who had a string of hits from 1936 through 1954. In May, she celebrated her 91st birthday. One of my favorite female singing groups is The "That Girl" Quartet, who recorded "Nightingale" in 1911.

Ann is the black-dyed beached whale whose heir won’t move in the breeze but her jowls will; Nancy is the over-rode old nag with the fake boobs that could break walnuts.

I vaguely remember Vera Lynn, having worked at a WNEW clone in he late ‘60’s. But I'm ignorant of the 1911 group. But I don't doubt you. Beautiful voices are timeless.

My all time favorite band. I see them almost every year at one of the Conn. Casinos. I own about everything they ever recorded. They just had a remastered ‘Greatest Hits’ CD go to #11 in England. It’s available on Amazon.com.

As I posted on another thread:

Exactly how much of what combination of which drugs did it take to write those lyrics?? Or did they use a Ouija board??

If any of stoners on this forum have the babelfish for this - please advise ...

Barracuda -- by Heart

So this aint the end, I saw you again today
I had to turn my heart away
Smile like the sun, kisses for everyone
And tails it never fails

You lying so low in the weeds
I bet you gonna ambush me
You’d have me down, down, down, down on my knees, now wouldn’t
you?
Barracuda! Ohh

Back over time we were all trying for free
you met the porpoise and me, aha
No right no wrong selling a song
A name whisper game

And if the real thing don’t do the trick
you better make up something quick
your gonna burn, burn, burn, burn, burn to the wick
Ooh, Barracuda, Oh yeah

“sell me sell you” the porpoise said
dive down deep down save my head, you
I think that you got the blues too
All that night and all the next
Swam without looking back
Made out for western pools, silly, silly fools

The real thing don’t do the trick
You better make up something quick
Your gonna burn, burn, burn, burn, burn it to the wick
Oh, Barra Barracuda! Yeah

Ooh!

Wrote my favorite tune [with Jack Nitszche], “Needles and Pins”.

Indeed, "Needles and Pins" by Jackie De Shannon, from the spring of 1963, was a solid hummer, as was Nitzsche's "The Lonely Surfer" from the summer of '63.

I knew this was going to happen when I heard it playing. Ann and Nancy are huge libs.

What a shame. So petty.

Those washed up old has-beens from 1978 were playing Harrah’s in Reno a few months back. They weren’t even the headliners. Tickets to their show got you 25% off the buffet.

The Searchers covered a second De Shannon tune [she also wrote it] called “When You Walk in the Room”. Her version sank. Their’s didn’t.

Her version, from 1964, is by far the best.

The “Sarah Barracuda” goes back to her basketball days. Now, when a maroon takes her on, they to can join the growing pile of political corpses that she has taken down a few notches. I love the “Sarahcuda” but will be happier to call her VP. Maybe even President Palin after 2012?
