What Women Want -- Palin's Glasses
Opticians Report Surge In Requests For Palin's Frames

SAN DIEGO -- Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is not just rocking the political world -- she's creating quite a frenzy for opticians with her signature frames.
Doug D'Amico said he's rushing to order Palin's glasses. The Encinitas optician told NBC 7/39 he's getting calls from women who want to buy the same glasses worn by Palin during her convention speech Wednesday night.
"It's fun," D'Amico says. "While we stay away from politics, the glasses make a strong professional statement."
The plan is to get the glasses in the store sometime Friday.
D'Amico's office, Europtics, is located at the Lumberyard Shopping Mall in North County, but it's not the only store getting calls.
Reports coming in across the country say that eyewear companies haven't seen interest in a pair of glasses like this in years. According to USA Today, the U.S. distributor of the frames keeps getting calls from dealers who want to stock the exact shape and style Gov. Palin is wearing.

The Palin frame runs around $400 without lenses. D'Amico said the price with lenses sells for between $600 and $800.
"It will increase business," says D'Amico, "but it will also increase awareness of how you can show power and authority and still feel good in glasses."

Tina Fey would have to cover up her facial scar first if she wanted to look like Sarah.

I've created a computer folder for pictures of her and her lovely family.
Never done that before with any other political figure.
She does have nice hair, doesn’t she? I noticed all her daughters have pretty hair too — a lovely red-brown and very shiny and healthy looking. Wonder if she would tell us what shampoo she’s using....

You old softie, you. It’s because she’s a hockey mom, isn’t it. Take off the lipstick, and you’ve got Sam! (ducking and running)
I wear them when I go out and I have magnetic sunglasses that snap onto them. They are a bit fragile, due to the way the bridge and temples are screwed directly into the lenses. However, Walmart techs will tighten them for no charge when they loosen up, about once every 18 months or so. I have regular glasses with simple frames I wear for work and daily use.
I wore contacts for 40 years, then, as I aged, I simply couldn't tolerate the gas perms any more. I tried soft lenses and hate the in and out process with them. I liked the frameless after seeing them all over TV on anchors and commentators for several years. They aren't new, are very popular and are perhaps more flattering than other styles. They are extremely light weight. Since many frames cost over $100, they are more expensive, but so what? It'a my money, I can spend it as I want, as can anyone.
The media is reaching.

Sorry, Blood! I’m a woman...
I’ve noticed a LOT of women wearing these since Mrs. Palin hit the VP spot.
Angie Harmon ~ gorgeous AND a brave Hollywood conservative.
Actually, Palin could play herself, and her daughters could portray her younger years.
I don’t think an actress could ever do her justice.
