In a rousing speech at last night's Republican National Convention, vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska, touted her record, attacked the opposition, and in some cases bent the facts.
PALIN: "[Obama] is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word 'victory' except when he's talking about his own campaign."
FACT: On July 15, in a speech in Washington, D.C., Obama twice used the word "victory" in reference to Iraq.
"In fact," he said, "true success in Iraq -- victory in Iraq -- will not take place in a surrender ceremony where an enemy lays down their arms. . . I want Iraqis to take responsibility for their own future, and to reach the political accommodation necessary for long-term stability. That's victory. That's success. That's what's best for Iraq, that's what's best for America, and that's why I will end this war as President.A week later in Berlin, Germany on July 23, Obama used the word "victory" three times to describe Allied successes during World War II....

Hey Goldman! Are those water buckets you’re carrying for Obama getting heavy? What a putz!
ABC calling someone else ‘less than honest’? What a hoot.
Obama said he’d make the US energy independent in 10 years.
FALSE. Point that out abc.
FACT: That proves exactly what Sarah said. Palin never said Obama NEVER used the word victory in a speech, Palin said he CAN give a speech on the war without using the word victory.
Gov. Palin said Obama “CAN” give an entire speech about Iraq, and never use the word victory (which I have heard him do numerous times.) She did NOT say that Obama has “NEVER” given a speech about Iraq without using the word victory. But if that article had any integrity at all, it would point out that clear difference, and also, since the MSM has each and every quote given by the candidates in a text-searchable database, they would easily say “out of XXX times speaking about Iraq, Obama mentioned “victory” once or twice or etc.”
Exactly — this MSM bozo is incompetent in the most elementary logic. The question is not whether Obama EVER talked about victory, it’s whether he gave even ONE speech about Iraq in which he did NOT talk about victory.
One instance will suffice to prove Palin’s point, but the only disproof would be to check every relevant speech by Obama and find that he talks about victory in all of them.
The rebuttal is more embarrassing than if they had never said a thing and let people think she was being partisan...
Yep. And if you think that is splitting hairs, you’re wrong.
“and to reach the political accommodation necessary for long-term stability. That’s victory.”
Obama’s definition of victory here is capitulation.
Very defensive, nit-picky article about nothing.
If they intend to defy and attack every point she made in that one speech, they’ll be just about caught up with today when we vote her in as co-captain Nov 2nd.
Let them whine.....
Wow abc.. YAWN.. thats really top notch investigative reporting.......YAWN
Wow, 4 times in his entire career; once for Iraq and 3 times for WW2, which is obvious, please! If he has only said ‘victory’ 3 times while talking about WW2, it’s still shaky ground.
They must have been up all night trying to find the word victory in his speeches. I guess that is notable since they probably would have lost count on how many times a true conservative has used the word victory to describe the war in Iraq
Why people who watch ABc, NBC, CBS, CNN news are IGNORANT.
Someone better tell this Russell clown that Palin was talking about AMERICAN victory, not some contrived ‘victory’ for the Iraqis taking premature steps they are unable to take right now.
Hey look up the word ‘fail’ in his speeches and we will really get a feeling for what he is talking about.
This is sniping. This is snarky. And total Bull Sugar.
If this is all they got, how are they EVER going to get any traction?
Maybe the news media should get back to discussion of the issues.
They should be able to give us, by now, just ONE reason why they think Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., the charismatic, messianic Magic Negro, should even be CONSIDERED for President of the United States.
You wonder sometimes if those talking heads over at ABC could find the United States on a world map.
Because Obama gave Michelle employer a $3 million earmark right after she was hired.
This brings Michelle in as a legitimate issue.
Are they sure they want to go there?
