Obama might pursue criminal charges against Bush administration

Democratic vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden said earlier this week that he and running mate Barack Obama could pursue criminal charges against the Bush administration if they are elected in November.

Biden's comments, first reported by ABC news, attracted little notice on a day dominated by the drama surrounding his Republican counterpart, Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

But his statements represent the Democrats' strongest vow so far this year to investigate alleged misdeeds committed during the Bush years.

When asked during a campaign event in Deerfield Beach, Florida, whether he would "pursue the violations that have been made against our Constitution by the present administration", Biden answered in the affirmative.

"We will not be stopped from pursuing any criminal offence that's occurred," he continued, going on to praise congressional committees for the deliberate pace of their inquiries into alleged Bush administration misdeeds.

Members of Congress are "doing the right thing, they're not making false accusations about anything … they're collecting data, subpoenaing records, they're building a file", Biden said.

"If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation, they will be pursued – not out of vengeance, not out of retribution, out of the need to preserve the notion that no one, no attorney general, no president -- no one is above the law."

Obama sounded a similar note in April, vowing that if elected, he would ask his attorney general to initiate a prompt review of Bush-era actions to distinguish between possible "genuine crimes" and "really bad policies".

They wouldn't dare.

The left wants show trials. Obama wants to create a Gestapo.

These men mean to destroy the Republic. And no, I'm not exaggerating.

Both Obama and Biden are up to their ears in kickbacks and graft and should be in the federal penitentiary.

There, see? Anybody can play this.

We could press charges against either one of them for impersonation of competence.

They have tried this lame threat numerous times already. They know it's going nowhere. It's hot air.

Pursuing Bush would make it look like he’s “doing something” for the country. Put the focus on that, while he ruins the economy, defense, and access to energy with past-proven bad policy.

No kidding...when did the orderly transfer of power as guaranteed by the Constitution become similar to a coup d’etat where the victors get to sit in judgement on the vanquished.

Ridiculous - how can this not backfire with the general public who are sick of all the partisan political wrangling.

This is a tell-tale sign that they need to shore up their base, a bad sign at this point, considering they never imagined the Republican base would come alive as it has with Mac’s VP pick, and they thought it was safe to drift to the middle.

No, they aren’t kidding.

This is the way Obama does business. Ask the wrong questions and you can find yourself arrested. Ask the ABC reporter trying to report on Obama’s big money backers. Ask the wrong questions and you’ll find yourself threatened and shouted down. Ask Kurtz, who’s trying to investigate what Obama did on those boards, the ones where he served with Ayres and handed out 160 million dollars for, what?

Criticize him and you may find yourself prosecuted by the Justice Department; he’s demanding prosecution of people who ran ads talking about his ties to Ayres.

Belong to the wrong party and you could get assaulted; ask the delegates at the Republican Convention who had to go through a mob to get inside.

He isn’t even president yet, and he is already making sure opposing him will cost you. Once he gets his hands on the Justice Department, and the IRS, you’ll think twice before opening your mouth.

Yes.

Biden and Harry Reid have one thing in common among many, which is that their sons are "lobbyists". You have to pay the son to talk to the father. The father can show little personal wealth, but the son knocks down millions selling access.

LOL ... Did everyone forget the Democrats in Congress have been in charge, and have been investigating anything for almost two years. The best they have come up with was reauthorizing the Bush ‘Domestic spying’ laws.

This is just laughable Kook Fodder.

Anything they try would be tossed out, a president cannot be prosecuted for policy actions etc. This is just red meat tossed to placate their idiotic rabid base, which are not the folks they need to worry about getting to vote for them to get elected.

For all the talk I’ve had to hear about how smart Fauxbama is, I’ve seen nothing but poor to mediocre decisions out of him.

Don't they have better things to do? Like actually running the country. They need to stop all of the lawyer BS. Most people in America hate lawyers. Even more than politicians. Lawyers that are also politicians are the lowest form of life on the planet.
