(AP) - Republican presidential nominee John McCain began his final drive for the White House on Thursday with a boost from running mate Sarah Palin while Democratic opponent Joe Biden declared her family "off limits" and suggested that some news media coverage of her had been sexist.
Palin and her husband, Todd, announced this week that their 17-year-old unmarried daughter was pregnant and would be marrying her boyfriend, saying they were making a private matter public because of Internet rumors. Biden said the Democratic campaign was not attacking Palin over her family.
"It is off limits to talk about her family," Biden said in an interview with "Fox and Friends" on Fox News Channel. "Every family has difficulty as they're raising their children. I think the way she's handled it has been absolutely exemplary."

Bidens career provides grist for McCains mill
In August 2007, three men who later became entangled in a Mississippi bribery scheme raised money for Sen. Joe Biden’s run for president.
A month later, two of the three were overheard in a phone call recorded by the FBI discussing federal legislation and a prospective meeting with Biden’s brother, Jim.

The overheard conversation between attorney Timothy Balducci and former Mississippi State Auditor Steve Patterson was recorded in September 2007 while the FBI was investigating a bribery scheme that toppled Scruggs, Mississippi’s most prominent lawyer.
Balducci tells Patterson at one point in the cryptic conversation that he was told “we really need to push on the Senate bill” and “get your man in line in the House if this comes out of the Senate,” according to the transcript.
On the tape, Balducci says he had spoken by phone to Jim Biden, Sen. Biden’s brother, “and we’re gonna meet the Bidens around noon,” according to the transcript.
Balducci said they would “meet with the black farmers at three.”
Around the time of the tape-recorded call, Biden and other lawmakers, including Obama, were pushing legislation to give thousands of black farmers a chance to seek compensation if they were denied loans or crop subsidies by the U.S. Department of Agriculture because of their race.

I have a vision of a past event that is burned into my mind......Mrs Alito sitting in the judiciary committee hearing crying quietly because of Biden’s vicious attacks on her husband.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that Joe Biden can say that would make me believe he wants fair play. He is a vicious, scumsucking, self-serving idiot and there is nothing too low for him and his running mate.
The unprecedented harsh media criticism of Governor Palin gave her a “free shot” last night in her speech.
she took advantage of that opening brilliantly.
the Dems are not stupid - the MSM are not stupid - in my opinion (humble at best) they will back off ASAP.
Biden knows this - he could give a rats ass about Sarah Palin’s family - he would tear them apart if he thought it would help him.
Look at what he did to the truck driver who was involved in the tragic accident that took his wife and two children.
Exhaustive investigation at the crash site - alcohol and drug tests - equipment inspections all showed no alcohol use or equipment failure on the truckers part - his wife pulled out in front of the truck.
Yet - to hear Biden tell it - he talks about the truck driver “who drank his lunch” that killed his wife and kids.
He has devastated the truckers family.
This guy is a phony, pandering, slime ball who will say WHATEVER it takes - true or not - to get elected.

While the date on the top shows 2008 this is really from back in 1999. You have to look down inside the change.
I'm sure it was somebody else, just with the same name. If it was his daughter I'm sure the press would have brought it up.
Biden is no fool - first of all he has his own tush to cover, secondly, AFTER the smearing has been done, he calls for a cease fire - to seemingly rise above it all, finally he is trying to stem the rising backlash from all the attacks by the democrats and media upon minor children in the name of politics.

I appreciate that 34 years ago he lost his first wife and daughter. That did not stop him from becoming an attack monster for the democrat party. His children are grown professional lobbyists. They are fair game.
