Palin E-Mails Show Intense Interest in Trooper's Penalty (More WaPost Smears) *Barf Alert*
The Washington Post ^ | 9/4/2008 | James V. Grimaldi and Karl Vick

EAGLE RIVER, Alaska, Sept. 3 -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the running mate for GOP presidential candidate John McCain, wrote e-mails that harshly criticized Alaska state troopers for failing to fire her former brother-in-law and ridiculed an internal affairs investigation into his conduct.

The e-mails were shown to The Washington Post by a former public safety commissioner, Walter Monegan, who was fired by Palin in July. Monegan has given copies of the e-mails to state ethics investigators to support his contention that he was dismissed for failing to fire Trooper Mike Wooten, who at the time was feuding with Palin's family.

"This trooper is still out on the street, in fact he's been promoted," said a Feb. 7, 2007, e-mail sent from Palin's personal Yahoo account and written to give Monegan permission to speak on a violent-crime bill before the state legislature.

"It was a joke, the whole year long 'investigation' of him," the e-mail said. "This is the same trooper who's out there today telling people the new administration is going to destroy the trooper organization, and that he'd 'never work for that b****', Palin'.)"

Another hit piece by the drive-bys and the Compost.

Covering a non-story and reporting based on an e-mail that Monegan would only let them see, not hold onto to authenticate. Wonderful journalism.

She ridiculed and criticized? OMG!

Boofreakinhoo. The trooper threatened murder against her father. Knowing this bit of information about a state trooper, was she supposed to say "Hey, guys, thanks so much for keeping on a trooper who threatened to kill a civilian!"

I would be the first to condemn Palin if she did anything wrong here, but when the guy she fired said she DIDN'T try to pull strings to get the trooper fired, that ended this stupid story for me.

WaPo--you're sweatin, aren't ya?

Next week: Palin's whereabouts on day Lincoln shot not supported by photographic evidence

WaPo hints at new Palin Revelations:

Sarah Palin.

On the Grassy Knoll.

With the Candlestick.

Right, it’s a non-story, aside from that, Palin welcomed the investigation.

That’s great : that story and Bristol’s pregnancy are the most ridiculous smears ever.

It’s good to see liberals are so desesperate.

The “McCain houses” so-called affairs nobody cares is also SO pathetic.

There is dispair among liberals, fellows, there is dispair !

Wait till they find out Palin’s complicity with the destruction of Alderaan. Darth Vader himself feared her.

We need to write in the commentary section after an internet news to get our message out. I suggest we present the case of a spouse abuse cop who also put a teaser on his 10yr old step-son, and only got 5-day disciplinary action by his superior. Do we want such person to ‘protect’ us on the street? As Palin pointed out, that’s not the image of ‘public safety’ officers that she wanted in Alaska. Or anywhere else, for that matter.

How sad for the MSM. Trying to make news instead of reporting it. *sigh*

Is “intense interest” not appropriate when your father’s life has been threatened?

If Palin DIDN’T express outrage about all that, I’d think there was something wrong with her.

This is vaguely and remotely similar to an episode in a previous administration. Certain career government employees were terminated, their reputations unjustly trashed and the perpetrator given a pass by the media.

Travelgate anyone?

Let's be honest here. If the trooper did what he's alleged to have done, and I believe he did, there should be howling if she DIDN'T demand for him to be fired. That kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable in a police officer of any station.

The same people bitching about “What kind of mother is she, becoming VP while she has kids to raise?” would be saying “A trooper threatened her family and tasered a boy...and she did NOTHING?????!!!!”

Not only did he threaten to kill her father, he tasered her 10 yr old nephew!!! This trooper was obviously unstable!

There is no way he should have been allowed to continue with his job enforcing the laws of the state.

This whole trooper "scandal" is going to do nothing more than make Sarah Palin look even better. If she had not done all in her power to get this creep fired, then she would have been accused of neglect. Anyone who was in a position to influence anyone else to fire a cop who tazered your 10 year old nephew and threatened to kill you and your parents and who let it slide, would have to be out of their mind.

This is simply the kind of "scandal" that makes Sarah Palin look better and better. Keep it up WaPo. You are endearing us all to Sarah Palin and making us distrust the MSM more and more every day.

I just love the smell of PANIC from the left.
