ENQURIER RESPONDS TO MCCAIN/PALIN
Drudge ^

Posted on 09/03/2008 4:13:52 PM PDT by cdchik123

"The National Enquirer's coverage of a vicious war within Sarah Palin's extended family includes several newsworthy revelations, including the resulting incredible charge of an affair plus details of family strife when the Governor's daughter revealed her pregnancy. Following our John Edwards' exclusives, our political reporting has obviously proven to be more detail-oriented than the McCain campaign's vetting process. Despite the McCain camp's attempts to control press coverage they find unfavorable, The Enquirer will continue to pursue news on both sides of the political spectrum."

You don’t know how much I want to believe that. However, in 40 years of following politics, I’ve been punched (metaphorically of course) in the stomach too many times when things like this have turned out to be true. Which is why I’m uber-cautious when it comes to saying flat-out that something is or isn’t true, and why I always carry a “Plan B” in my back pocket (and I hope the McCain campaign does as well) just in case.

Big private equity honcho as well (from the Blackstone Group), but also listed by the NY Times as one of Hillary’s leading economic advisers for her campaign. And, that’s how he controls the NE, by having it as one of his portfolio PE companies.

They’re all over the place. Good God, I’ve been here so long I know their lingo, even if they’re not being obvious about it. The current one is to say “I’m worried” or “This concerns me,” anything to be dispiriting.

The National Enquirer gained some respect with their John Edwards story. Too bad they chose to blow it so quickly with this garbage.

Read on another thread that the NE source was “an enemy of Palin”. Hope Sarah sues! We all know why Edwards didn’t sue. He knew they had the goods on him.

I am too. If it is true though then “We had marital difficulties, we worked on them and are now enjoying a close, loving marriage” might be enough.

Voters knew about Bill Clinton and Jennifer Flowers before they elected him after all!

Welcome to Free Republic! MEOW!

Byron York’s reposted some good stuff he’s done on the NE over at the National Review. His main point is that they mix both false heavy innuendo from some of their stories (W and Laura getting divorced, W back on the sauce) with stories that have real factual reporting (e.g., the Edwards mess).

Condi Rice was treated the exact same way by the Left.
Never forget that.
And the black community allowed it to happen.
Shame on them.

Yes.

They are acting like age old FReepers, but act like butt-heads.

Click on their names and you’ll find many just got here.

The left is vile.

including the resulting incredible charge of an affair

Doesn't "incredible" mean without credibility?

I am kinda worried.

This isn't exactly a ringing endorsement of their story. The words "incredible charge" don't exactly inspire confidence, nor do you see any language about "sticking by our story".

"I think all 20% of Sarah’s unfavorables have been heard from!"

Yes, and the scum of every state would be about the same. Both parties have scumbags, it's a fact of life and humanity.

These attackers aren't worth Sarah Palin's discarded dirty socks.

And hence my confusion. Because it’s in Hildebeest’s best interests for Obambi to lose the election...that gives her a chance four years from now. Of course, there is some belief that she has the “goods” on Obama not really satisfying the citizenship requirements for President, and at some point all will be revealed, forcing him to drop out of the race. The Dems will contritely turn to Hildebeest to run instead. So in that scenario, the Maverick/ Barracuda ticket will have to be discredited....oh it’s all so confusing.

Exactly. It's "incredible" parsing!

Oh yes. Yes. “Troubling.”

I have to admit, they’re a much more subdued — one might even say nuanced — bunch of losers this trip than in 2004.
