United Airlines has said that it will not end free meals in coach class on international flights, as announced earlier this summer.
The carrier had said it would trial a program on transatlantic flights from Washington Dulles International Airport, in which travelers in coach class would be charged for food, and meals in Business and First Classes would be free......

Well I am happy because I work for one of their regional contractors at Washington Dulles International Airport. If UAL goes down under. I will have to get my resume up again. However they will still charge you extra for domestic flights (on meals).
And I will like to thank the UAL customers. Who gave a shout out against this foolishness.

I didn’t think you got free meals in coach in domestic class. I like UAL.

That would have been a big mess. How would they handle the currency exchange from passengers without American dollars?

That’s almost, but nearly, as bad as the last time we went to the theatre and were charged an aisle usage fee. What, did they expect us to use the catwalk and rappel down to our seats?
To: Cripplehawk
The meals aren’t free, they’re included in the cost of the ticket.

TANSTAAFLEveryone knows that the meals aren't really free, they're just included in the price of a ticket. By charging extra for something that used to be complementary airlines are just annoying their customers, not a good thing when the customers basically hate the service they're provided to begin with. Smart move by UAL. I wish they all would just stop this nickle and diming, especially with the price of oil falling.

That’s good to know.
But I still fly Lufthansa whenever I have the choice. Real plates and silverware even in coach are a nice touch.

And I will like to thank the UAL customers. Who gave a shout out against this foolishness. I recently flew between IAD and YEG (Edmonton) on Air Canada flights to attend a family event. The UAL flight (operated by Republic Airways) from IAD to YYZ (Toronto), also signed as an AC flight, was okay. Just okay, though. The UAL employees I interacted with were very warm and friendly, but I wasn't impressed much with the quality of the aircraft, at least, compared to the AC flight from YYZ to YEG (which was wonderful, except for when the enRoute inflight entertainment systems crashed).
Anyways, my two cents. UAL's employees rock, but their rates are a bit...pricey, in my opinion. Perhaps that's because I've been checking domestic fares on JetBlue lately.
Since you work for UAL's contractors at IAD, thanks much to you and the rest of your coworkers for getting folks like me to and from YYZ safely and on time.

I thought this announcement was for domestic flights? If UA had ended meals on international flights, there are plenty of foreign carriers who'd gladly have taken the customers and provided them with a meal.

If United cared about customers shouting out against United foolishness, the frequent flyer program would still work with Amex and Diners, and those Economy Plus seats they used to give to frequent flyers wouldn't cost extra.
