I know that most on here are ticked off and supporting Governor Palin, but for those worried about the attacks and any polls of the moment consider the following:
1. This election was always going to be a dogfight given the political climate; does anyone believe for a minute that the polls would suddenly turn great with Romney or Pawlenty on the ticket with McCain? Having said that, Palin has fired up conservatives (me included) for this ticket at a level that was not possible with the other known choices at least.
2. If you assume that the base is fired up then now the McCain can begin to hammer away on the fact that Obama has done ZERO, which began last night. Ironically enough the attacks from the left and the Obama campaign on Palin's experience really just provides a major opening to have a discussion about Obama's total lack of experience. And yes I believe that can matter to people that he is at the top of the ticket when making final decisions, not the bottom of the ticket.
3. Some of this media frenzy about the Palin family and the "vetting" process has once again really pissed off conservatives and provided a major opening to further "vet" Mr. Obama in various forums, particularly the 527s. The Democrats can whine all they want, but a calculated slam of Obama's questionable ties done well could be the difference between winning and losing this election. They still reference the "Swift Boaters" from last election, and I loved giving them my hard earned money to get their message out.
4. It is never fun to be behind in the polls, but here is my take on the polls this cycle: - I do believe that Obama has brought in many new voters to their side and has an energized base, so this can't be discounted. However, I am still a little suspicious about the "party identification" numbers being so great for the Democrats in the poll weighting. I think that the pick of Palin firing up the Republican base may not be fully reflected in the weighting going forward. - The total lack of experience of Obama and quite frankly the racist tendencies of many blue-collar Democrats are factors that may never fully reflect until in the voting booth to make that final decision. I say that Obama better be at least outside the polling margin of error going into election day to feel very comfortable.
5. For the same reason that some have become anxious with the fast news cycle on Palin garbage, there can be significant changes in the dynamics of this race based on the debates. I don't think that McCain is a "polished speaker", but it is hard to believe that he couldn't just crush that guy on lack of experience in the debates. I also think that McCain should publicly challenge him from the podium in the very first debate to have a separate series of town hall meetings (as already challenged by McCain) so that public can fully "vet" the candidates in response to Obama's statement in his DNC speech that he would welcome any debate with McCain.
This will be a tough fight until the end, so hang in there Freepers and keep up the good fight!
Where can I find out the time of Palin’s speech tonight (Pacific Coast time?) I want to try to be home and watch.
1 to 2 week ship date on McCain/ Palin yard signs. Is this a good sign or not?
Thanks!
Hi Huck, I wish I could let it go but the hypocrisy and blatant attacks by the media is something I can no longer stomach.
In addition Obama has not beeen vetted yet and every Conservative I know acts as if exposing him would be like kryponite. There is a Federal Lawsuit challenging his eligibility that is still alive.
I am not getting my hopes up but this is more of an issue than the State Trooper case where the Dems are defending a child abuser and crooked cop.
As long as McCain keeps the gloves on and refuses to engage Obambi on these issues, the more the American people are voting for a fraud.
I am totally incredulous and feel as if I am being followed around by an elephant that nobody else can see.
Hoping for a late October Surprise!!! Just like that DWI back in 2000.
I think the McCain team has been doing a great job all summer. I’m looking forward to today’s developments. Hold the line.
I don’t know.
Don’t worry. Palin has energized conservatives in a way McCain never could have on his own. We’ll be sticking by her.
You've taken the first step. . .admitted you have a problem. The next step is to get into some counseling and perhaps start taking some meds. Good luck in your efforts to restore your mental health.
There is a better chance that “Barack is not a US Citizen” gets exposed and that’s a 100-1 shot.
Battle of the Conspiracy Theories!!!!
The dinomedia is attacking her causing obama supporters to quip hey they must regret picking such a controversial pick while obama sits back and let’s them attack.
Bud Day and now Fred Thompson have fired me up. As a “military brat” and as a lifelong member of the United States military, I understand what Fred was saying about character tempered under fire. McCain is truly the man for these trying times. I am back in the corral. Go John! Go Sarah! Go USA!
“Well, you know, my understanding is that, uh, Governor Palins town of Wasilly [sic] has, uh, 50 employees, uh, uh, weve got 2,500, uh, in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. Uh, uh, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. Uh, so I think that, uh, our ability to manage large systems, uh, and to, uh, execute, uh, I think has been made clear over the last couple of years. Uh, and certainly, in terms of, uh, the legislation that Ive passed just dealing with this issue post-Katrina, uh, of how we handle emergency management. The fact that, uh, many of my recommendations were adopted and are being put in place, uh, as we speak indicates the extent to which we can provide the kinds of support and good service that the American people expect.
Barack Obama
Ah, answering myself now:
7:50 pm; Carly Fiorina will reprise a speech “looking back” on a first term of a McCain presidency;
8 pm: Former Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele;
8:15 pm: Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will talk about economic contrasts between Obama and McCain;
8:30 pm: Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee will follow on with economic and other social themes;
9 pm: Former NY Mayor Rudy Giuliani will contrast Obama and McCain on a number of issues, especially the war on terror;
9:20 pm: Gov. Linda Lingle of Hawaii will introduce Gov. Sarah Palin
9:30: Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will give her major address. (Oddly, her speech will come before she’s actually nominated.)
Should be a big night. Stay tuned for updates.

Thanks for the vanity in support of Palin. Here’s mine:
Sung to the tune of Oh! Susanna, dont you cry for me.
Oh, no Bama, please dont lie to me... for Im off to Free Republic with a keyboard on my knee.
I come from Minnesota with my keyboard on my knee;
Im goin to Free Republic my true love for to see.
It rained all night the day I left,
the weather it was dry;
The sun so hot I froze to death,
Obama dont you lie.
Oh! No Bama, dont you lie to me;
I come from Minnesota,
with my keyboard on my knee.
I had a dream the other night,
When everything was still;
I thought I saw Obama dear,
A-coming down the hill.
The smearing lie was in Duluth,
The tear was in his eye,
Said I, Im coming for the truth
Obama dont you lie.
Oh! No Bama, dont you lie to me;
Im off to Free Republic,
with my keyboard on my knee.
I fight in my pajamas
Its plain for all to see
I aim to be the next Buckhead
The media all hate me.
I fell in love with Sarah
When my sister bit a moose
The Guvnors family ate it up
And then they set it loose.
Oh! No Bama, dont you lie to me;
Im off to Free Republic,
with my keyboard on my knee.
I soon will be in Hawaii,
And then Ill look all round,
And when I find his birth record,
Ill fall upon the ground.
But if I do not find it,
This Freeperll surely die,
And when Im dead and buried,
Obama dont you lie.
Oh! No Bama, dont you cry for me;
Im off to Free Republic with a keyboard on my knee

According to this:
She will accept the nomination first, then speak.
Peggy Noonan just screwed us and we will still NOT vet Obama.
Hold the line.
Peggy Noonan is a nobody.
MSNBC will make sure that she is a household name by EOW.
