September 2, 2008, 10:32 pm Alaska Party Official Says Palin Was Not a Member By The New York Times
The chairwoman of an Alaskan political party that advocates a vote on the states secession from the union said Tuesday that she had been mistaken when she said Gov. Sarah Palin was a member of the group.
A front-page story in The New York Times on Tuesday and articles in other news media reported that Ms. Palin was a member of the Alaska Independence Party for two years in the 1990s.
The information in the Times article was based on a statement issued Monday night by Lynette Clark, the partys chairwoman, who said that Ms. Palin joined the party in 1994 and in 1996 changed her registration to Republican. On Tuesday night, Ms. Clark said that her initial statement was incorrect and had been based on erroneous information provided by another member of the party whom she declined to identify.
The McCain campaign also disputed the Times report, saying that Ms. Palin had been registered consistently as a Republican. After checking the partys archives, Ms. Clark said that she could find no documentation that Governor Palin had been a member of the party. She said Ms. Palin attended the partys 1994 and 2006 conventions and provided a video-taped address as governor to the 2008 convention. Ms. Clark said that Ms. Palins husband, Todd, was a former member of the party.

once again, i made myself sick by reading the comments on the article (times blog)
these people are sick, savage was right about that
“liberalism is a mental disorder”
This story was bogus from the start. It was invented by a blogger from the DailyKOS and the Obama campaign.
Time to realize the true source of this stuff-- and then ATTACK!!!
Anyone sending their ire to the New York Times today?
Whatever happened to requiring two sources on record before reporting a story???
that’s only if the story hurts dems
repubs, don’t need to source, run with the blog rumors
>>Im glad this turned out to be false. I was beginning to think McCain hadnt been as thorough in vetting her as he should.<<
Oh ye of little faith.
Trust me, a LOT of ‘em are going to be false or irrelevant. This kind of stuff was expected.
Definitely Clark seeing a chance for her 15 minutes...was this correction printed on the front page of the NYT like the original story was? I wouldn’t be surprised if Clark made the entire story up out of whole cloth.
How convenient a lie.
Yet, the KOS Morons keep repeating the NYTimes lie, OVER AND OVER. And the media picks it up, all over again, because they can’t do original work anymore.
It’s how Democrat smears work.
Are you kidding? Ethics at the New York Times?
Nope. It was buried in a blog page.
Behold the quality of journalism in America today, and think about that whenever you read their work.
The Times, along with the rest of the liberal media, is engaging in a powerplay to trash Sarah Palin. That’s enough for me. It’s all-out war on the liberal media now.
Have they printed their retraction on famine in the Ukraine?
With John Edwards little bastard they had to hold off on covering the story until he himself admitted he’d committed adultery. And even then the “mistake” was blamed on one of his staffers.
Are you dreaming?
Every American was party-less...at one time.
It’s on the Slimes blog. The Old Grey Lady; Tis a Pity She’s a Wh*re.
Figures.
Palin needs to go on offense and start libel proceedings against the MSM for spreading false rumors as established fact.
This will be another election that the Left tries to steal through “fake but accurate” propaganda.
