The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows Barack Obama attracting 48% of the vote while John McCain earns 43%. When "leaners" are included, its Obama 50%, McCain 45%.
Both Obama and McCain lost a little ground in the polls after announcing their Vice President running mate. Obama lost three points after the Joe Biden selection was announced and McCain lost two points after Palin was announced.
Obama then enjoyed a fairly typical bounce from his convention and it remains to be seen how what kind of bounce McCain will get.
Fifty-two percent (52%) of Americans have a favorable opinion of Palin.

McCain is down because the Dems just had a convention. He’s only down 5 because the Palin announcement blunted the bounce. Now we’re having our convention and we’ll get a bounce. It should be pretty close to even after the dust settles, and then McCain can start taking Osama Obama apart, piece by terrorist-communist-racist-linked piece.
I’ve been getting this terrible gut feeling when Clinton was ahead of President Bush and Bush never caught up or that gut feeling when W DUI was released a week from the election. GOD I pray I’m totally wrong. PLEASE HELP US LORD counter their EVIL SCHEMES!
The Palin selection may have caused a slight drop, but it’s done wonders in firing up the passions of conservatives. No other pick (at least none of the more notable ones: Romney, Pawlenty, or Lieberman) could have had this much of a positive effect on the core conservatives.
Just how this translates in other numbers remains to be seen- but the selection of Palin has an upside like no other one did. Her speech tonight, and her performance in the debate will be critical.
You need to get a job working for the campaign or something. Because that is one of the best graphics I have seen. The campaign should find some way to adapt into a television add because it takes all of the dems attacks and points out how these things make her relate better to the average american.
Sure, if the election is the first week of September.
The Monday night sample must have been horrendous for McCain. It will roll off Friday.
Frankly, it’s even worse than one would think. Ras says August GOP representation in his sampling was up, so that means he adjusts his robot targets to keep calling until they get the desired partisan mix.
Even with that adjustment, the Monday sample resulted. I am a little fearful it’s not just normal post convention bounce. The three day average yesterday was of Monday, Sunday and Saturday nights. Friday night, the first time sampling was done after the Obama speech, rolled off.
But there has always been talk of convention bounces being delayed (though it’s never described as why).
That is WAY removed from reality. Kerry came within ~100,000 votes in Ohio of winning the electoral college and the Presidency. But Bush defeated him by over 3 million total votes.
You are absolutely on target. I see a lot of flippant remarks here. Believe me it is going to be a battle. Donate, talk to people, fast, pray. It is going to take a lot. I am sending my check into today
Oh, good grief. Perhaps others around here are buying your nonsense, but not me. LLORT!
See my tagline
That’s awesome. Push it out somewhere to get distribution!
Ditto those remarks. GRAND SLAM GRAPHIC!!!
Thank you! I am very humbled by that. I was just thinking about her today and I realized, “they are attacking her because she’s one of us.”
She’s a normal, everyday American with normal, everyday trials just like the rest of us. When they attack her, they attack every person who has had a disabled loved one, gone through a divorce, etc., etc., It’s not right, and we need to let the MSM and Dems know it isn’t right.
The “attacks” on Sarah Palin will turn into puffs of smoke and dust, as they are directed more by emotion than by any substantiated fact.
The sisterhood of the leftist feminists has had a hand grenade thrown in their midst, and they think they can shout it to death, having neither the wit nor presence of mind to pick it up and toss it away. They have devoted their efforts to denying the hand greande exists, that Sarah Palin is an anomaly, and cannot possibly be real.
They cannot help themselves, and they are compelled to say these things for public consumption by the groupthink mentality held by so many on the left. But inside, there is building a little pocket of superheated steam, which may or may not explode once they get into the secrecy of the voting booth.
This feminine mystique finally has become a knife that can cut both ways.
IMO those whom focus on the dreams of the Pollsters are in for a shock this coming November.
The Pollster’s blew it last couple of elections, and this one is even more volatile. The Pollsters are going to prove to be worthless.
None yet...but it is supposedly going to be handled today...I was at a hillary forum and the women there are super angry and the threads are all about helping Sarah. It is not even about Hillary anymore (GOOD!)They HATE Obambi. Honestly, I am not sure about these polls all because people lie especially when they think they may be perceived as a racist. I also believe there are more Hillary supporters that WON’T back Obama than they realize.
Thanks! Do you know where I could email it to?
Again...we will not see where this race truly stands until next Monday or Tuesday.
Try the McCain and RNC websites for contact info!
Exactly, and look at this from Rasmussen:
Fifty-two percent (52%) of Americans have a favorable opinion of Palin.
Now, with all that crap that’s been thrown at her since last Friday, I think that’s pretty damn good.
