Most of my Chinese friends as is the case with many Americans, know very little about Governor Sarah Palin, John Mcain's choice for running mate in the 2008 Presidential Election. When they do learn more about her, there is one aspect of her life that will undoubtedly catch the attention of many people here. Earlier this year, Governor Palin gave birth to a baby boy despite the fact that doctors told her that he would have Down syndrome. Making the same choice in China is nearly unheard of. If a Chinese mother finds out that her unborn baby is afflicted with a deformity or other abnormality, it is standard procedure to have the baby aborted...

Godless, empty creatures...secretly carrying a life of guilt.
And why do they live here? Because they value freedom and life.
Asians are one of the largest growth demographics for Christianity.
Gov. Palin's husband is 1/2 Eskimo. This will not be overlooked by both Asian-Americans, Native Americans and Hispanics.
As you also must know, in China it is not uncommmon for brothers and sisters to swap their children around to raise the gender of child they wanted. What governor Palin was inaccurately accused of with her latest child, taking her daughter’s child, would not be seen as unusual in China.
I guess it depends on what you consider to be a “winner.”
Destroying your disabled child is not a “value” I consider to be very admirable.
Why wouldn't he get your post in China?

Neither is drowning your baby daughter in the rice patties so you can try for a boy....
And Maybe 80% of Down syndrome babies are aborted...
China doesnt just suck..it swallows...
You do realize that large parts of Shanghai was under the control of Britain and foreign powers at the time, and had been for decades by the 1930s, right?
Of course Shanghai looked positively western in that picture. Because it was run by westerners.
“Chinese people are allowed only one baby, and will willingly abort female babies in favor of male babies. I dont think we need lessons in humanity from the Chinese.”
And those that forsake having a male to carry the family name forward for a girl push her as soon as they can in the peoples republic gymnastic program in hopes that within 13 years they can illegitimately win an olympic gold medal so that the government will put them in a new home.
If they had Freedom and ditched Communism completely, those 1.3 Billion Free people would be a Force to be Reckoned with.
People are the Ultimate Resource. There are no problems that cannot be solved via human ingenuity. I truly believe that a Free Society can tackle any problem that faces it without resorting to the eugenics movement!
Hmmm.... that’s odd. Why is it then that when I was looking to adopt a child I was shown lots of pics of Chinese Down Syndrome baby girls? They couldn’t get them to die?
I would love to, as Billy Joel would say, watch "the smile run away from their faces".
Actually, China’s situation is a perfect opportunity (though unlucky for the inhabitants) to see exactly how critical a good system of government is.
Taiwan, The Peoples Republic, and Hong Kong all share the same Asian culture and (barring the aboriginal Formosans) the same genetics.
China, the communinst nation, has a per-capita anual GDP of around $5,000.
Taiwan, which has evolved from a military dictatorship (after losing the war that brought the communists to power) into a democratic nation, has a per-capita GDP of around $30,000. And Hong Kong, which was colonozied by those horrible, awful British folk, has a per capita GDP of around $40,000 even after being thrown back to the communists.
I guess the Chinese don’t value life. It’s that simple.
For the state it is all about productivity. People are tools of the state. Damaged tools are unwelcome.
Humanity has little meaning there.
Choices matter...
