Tim Russert missed more then ever right now. (Wouldn't tolerate the scum journalism going on now)

After watching debacle after debacle these last few days, I can't help but think that if Russert was still alive none of this crap would still be happening. Tim was a Democrat, but a fairly down the middle Democrat. He would absolute come down hard on this garbage the media is doing now.

A real shame his guiding hand is not there right now as it has become the wild west in reporting. Very sad indeed.

Good vanity. You are absolutely correct.
Tim was one of the very few grown-ups in the Democrat MSM.

Tim was liberal, but I thought he was tough but fair. I wonder what he would think of the circus that journalism devolves into sometimes.

The liberals and their allies in the MSM went to Denver to report to us that great issues are before us. Issues of war and peace, prosperity for the middle class, education, health care, ad nausem. And we were told we live in troubled times, and this is a consequential election year.

Rather then reporting on the Republicans side of the issues, to allow us voters to compare and contrast these issues, instead we’re told that Sarah Palin’s daughter is prego, and how naughty is all of that, and what kind of mother is Sarah, and what experience does she really have, and what about the “heartbeat away” test for a vice-president, and just so much bull#$#$# is being talked about. I can’t believe how ugly it’s getting out there.

Great point. Russert was a class act, and he would be dismayed at this blatant advocacy that is being peddled as journalism.

He is missed.

BS.

Russert's interview of Bush back in 2004 was as crass as ever.

“Tim was one of the very few grown-ups”

The left has succeeded in creating an adolescent monstrosity.

Between Campbell Brown, Anderson Cooper, Jeff Toobin, Keith Olbermann, these so called, “journalists” are demonstrating the most blatant liberal bias I have ever seen.

Someone tell Jeff Toobin that it is the Republican who have a woman on the ticket. And he forgot to mention that his boy, Biden is one of the “old white men” that he mentioned.

Tim was a good man who loved his family and his country. He asked tough questions, but did not engage in advocacy journalism in the blatant manner of Keith Olberman or Campbell Brown or the more subtle manner of thers in the MSM. I learned in junior high journalism that opinions should be kept off the news page. We had higher standards in eighth grade.

"I can't help but think that if Russert was still alive none of this crap would still be happening."

None? Surely you jest. Russert seemed to be a fairly nice guy, but he did not control the media or it would not be in the sad shape that it is today. Russert didn't die that long ago. The MSM has been rotten for at least a couple of decades, and Russert's employer is more than guilty than others.

Your contention simply doesn't ring true.

"We had higher standards in eighth grade"

Exactly!! So many times I have thought that my Jr. High and High Schools had much, much higher standards than the norms in our news media. Not to say that every student or even ever teacher/administrator led an exemplary life, but most did and NONE of the kind of deranged hateful character assassination that we see daily would have been tolerated in our classrooms or school activities, not for a second.

I was in public schools from the mid-60s to 70s, and while some things certainly started to decline due to the counter-culture, etc. the teachers and administrators I had were well above the current standards of our news media in both character and intellectual output.

One reason I hardly ever turn on TV news or talk shows anymore, I feel demeaned and degraded just trying to wade through some of the bozos they have on.

Yeah, at least he had integrity.

Did he? You'll get more than a little debate about *that*!! What *can* be truthfully said about the late Mr. Russert is that he was nowhere near as rabidly open in his biases as those leading the howling pack today. Nothing more than that...

Just since this seems the best place to post, I just turned on FNC for a moment, and saw Greta intreviewing Lynn Swann. She just couldn’t get over the fact that he’s black, yet not voting for Obama. He finally had to tell her that Obama does not represent all black people.

The media is really disgusting.

When I say none, I’m talking about Daily Kos leading the MSM to water. I don’t think that would be happening.

There will always be a liberal slant in the MSM, but the last week has become totally unhinged.

I don’t want to rain too much on the parade, but let’s acknowledge that a lot of the perversions of MSNBC developed while Mr. Russert was still around.... and NBC itself was pretty darned biased from way back. I do agree that MTP and Russert were much better than the network that hosted them, and maybe Russert would not have had influence over trends in the entire network, but I am not aware that he made any efforts against the grotesque tendencies of the Olberdork, et al.

Sorry, but Russert wasn’t anywhere nearly the saint you guys describe.

He let Scooter hang.

He told a Judge that he shouldn’t be called as a witness because he surely wouldn’t talk, yet he told the Judge that AFTER her ratted out sours to the FBI and all it took was an FBI agent (at least they said they were FBI) to call.

Russert was trained as a lawyer, yet when he asked Mr Plame if Mrs Plame was a “Covert Agent” as defined in the applicable law, Joey stalled and called Mrs. Plame a “national security asset” and let him slide even though it was an absolute bullcrap dodge of the question. Russert might as well have forced his tounge down Joey’s throat at point.

Sorry, guy’s dead, God rest his soul, but his PR was better than other journalists, not his integrity.

Whether or not he *did* engage in "Advocacy Journalism" isn't really open for debate. He did (or he would never have been hired in the first place, let alone be promoted). *THAT* is the reality. He hid his biases more, to be sure, but they still existed, and still affected his reporting.

Is he truly to blame? No, I place the blame squarely where it belongs, in how they are trained, and where they are trained, these so-called "institutes of higher learning", where "learning" is equated with indoctrination, and "education" consists of of "the end justifies the means"...
