At a time when Israel's judges were weak, God allowed a woman to judge, until the men were sufficiently shaken up to return to their judicial roles with the conservative values required of them by God. Today, feminism has clearly weakened the already-liberal class, but also has affected other men with the exception of the decidedly far-right wing, who recognize feminism for what it is and keep their families protected from it and its manifestations.
Israel was God's country, America is not. This is not arguable, seen in how America has not been chastened and restored by God the way Israel was, repeatedly, in response to their corresponding hedonism and humility. Since this is not His nation, I see women in power as a slippery slope further down the hole toward irrelevency as a world power.
Pragmatists, I hear you call to defeat Hussein at any cost. Christ was not a pragmarist, and I am a Christian, so neither am I. Voting is about doing the right thing, not about selecting wrong to maybe get a right later on... maybe. That is called gambling.
I see the conservatives fighting the pendulum swing to the left, following a right swing during the Reagan era. No, Willy was not the extreme.
I could be wrong on this, and am simply missing America's turn to the right like never before, electing a liberal republican with a VP more conservative than he is. After all, this is the first election I can remember without a conservative choice on the Presidential ballot.
If you are speaking of Deborah, she was not only a judge but a general. It was she who lead the armies to victory while the men were fearful.
Are you comparing Sarah Palin to Deborah?
I’m not following you. What are you getting at? Electing McCain is not a turn to the right for the country. It’s another slow slide to the left. Palin tilts McCain our direction, but unfortunately she won’t be the President to have an impact.
I guess this is from the bulletin at the Westboro Baptist Church this week.....
>>I guess this is from the bulletin at the Westboro Baptist Church this week.....>>
If you think fundamentalism is equal to Westboro, you are uneducated on fundamentalism.
Reading this, I am not exactly sure where you decided to come down on an issue, as it doesn’t appear that you actually stated an application from your commentary.
If you are stating that you can’t see having a woman leading the country based on your being a Christian, then I will say that would depend on how you interpret your Bible.
Israel was a Theocracy, and had a governmental system dictated by God, and therefore can’t be directly compared to any other country or government on earth. Israel stands alone in this regard as God’s chosen people.
Would we be better off running our government on Israel’s model? I don’t have an answer to that question, but I don’t believe we must as Christians expect our government to reflect Israel’s Biblical standards or abstain from participating in it.
I find in the New Testament many admonitions about a woman’s role of leadership in the church, in the body of Christ, but I think stretching these verses to apply to secular government is exactly that, a stretch.
You are welcome to hold your own opinion on the matter, but I have no trouble with McCain’s VP choice.
>>If you are speaking of Deborah, she was not only a judge but a general. It was she who lead the armies to victory while the men were fearful. Are you comparing Sarah Palin to Deborah?>>
President=Commander In Chief
Yes Deborah did and do you know who she had to deal with? Some guy name BARAK... Go read I am not making this up.
>>If you are stating that you cant see having a woman leading the country based on your being a Christian, then I will say that would depend on how you interpret your Bible.>>
Sorry, the Bible is of no private interpretation. It is what it says it is. Next.
>>Israel was a Theocracy, and had a governmental system dictated by God, and therefore cant be directly compared to any other country or government on earth. Israel stands alone in this regard as Gods chosen people.>>
Correct. However, people in power are directly relatable by God’s choices throughout history.
>>Would we be better off running our government on Israels model? I dont have an answer to that question, but I dont believe we must as Christians expect our government to reflect Israels Biblical standards or abstain from participating in it.>>
Invalid question, since this is not God’s country.
>>I find in the New Testament many admonitions about a womans role of leadership in the church, in the body of Christ, but I think stretching these verses to apply to secular government is exactly that, a stretch.>>
No, you do not find admonitions about women teaching anyone but other women and children outside of Israel. If you think that God’s principles do not apply to secular government, I suggest you do some reading, say around the time of Christ, about the Roman government.
>>You are welcome to hold your own opinion on the matter, but I have no trouble with McCains VP choice.>>
Repeat, Christ was not a pragmatist, so neither am I.
Yes Deborah did and do you know who she had to deal with? Some guy name BARAK... Go read I am not making this up. As a matter of fact she had to give him direction and tell him what to do.
So--you're imposing time constraints on God? Because you think it should've already been done?
Pretty arrogant, don't you think?
If you are referring to Deborah, did God allow her, or did God call her because there was no male to fulfill the role? There is a big difference.
