If she is capable of pulling it off I would have the pregnant daughter introduce the mother for the acceptance speech.

Barack Obama, descended from the heavens to heal our souls and deliver our nation; and Sarah Palin, who wandered in from the Alaska wilderness with a rifle under one arm and a baby in the other.

LMAO!

“Perhaps if Sarah had stayed home and raised her family, her daughter wouldn’t have become pregnant.”

Should Gov. Palin be allowed to wear shoes or just stand in the kitchen barefoot?

Kinda cold in Alaska to make fresh biscuits from scratch barefooted. Bunny slippers would be OK. No sense wasting money on electricity, though. She can cook by the light from the wood stove. /sarc

...the 2008 presidential campaign officially has ............two legitimate stars: Barack Obama, descended from the heavens to heal our souls and deliver our nation; and Sarah Palin, who wandered in from the Alaska wilderness with a rifle under one arm and a baby in the other.

LOL. That's funny.

Yes, but it’s important to understand that there will be some conservatives who argue for consistency-—that illegitimacy is a sign of social decline, and while it’s a plus that she is having the baby, it’s nevertheless sad that even in conservative families illicit sex seems common these days. So while there is no abortion involved, we shouldn’t miss the fact that the bar has once again been lowered.

In our highly sexualized culture mixed with the raging hormones of youth, I don't know why almost every young female isn't pregnant. If one sends their kids to public school the forces working hard to counter Godly morality have an overwhelming advantage in terms of time and opportunity. And it only takes one slip.

Not every parent does the best they can, but many do. And in spite of that children sometimes choose not wisely and listen to other voices.

We homeschool. We "train our children in the way they should go so that when they are old[er] they will not depart from it." We have not thrown them, while in their youth (when they are least capable of resisting temptation--and its hard enough when we're old[er]), into the popular culture to make it on their own. We have endeavored to provide positive influences because we know that "bad company corrupts good morals."

I don't know the Palins, but I think I have a handle on the circumstances they find themselves in. And unlike the counter-culturalists, just because someone fails to adhere to sound morality 100% of the time is no reason to abandon that morality in favor of license and death. No, the right thing is to realize that it is "never too late" to do what is right. It may cost a great deal--increased scrutiny, condemnation by those who have given up--but it is the only sane choice.

My eyes see the contrast.

Obama supporters ought be asked outright, “Exactly what would YOUR choice be?”, their reply should be recorded, and their confessions played back with pictures from abortion clinics whom, with their endorsement and aid, is responsible for the murder of millions of Americans.

“What, no girl in a well-governed house ever listened to a boy’s horny lies?”

Hate to start a gender war here but don’t you think it’s a bit unfair to blame the guys for all teenage pregnancies? There’s plenty of “nice girls” out there who’ll jump in the sack without any special inducements.

You can bet I’m going to quote both people to ANYONE who brings up Bristol’s pregnancy.

And, for good measure, I might add

“your sense of right and wrong cannot be so scarred that you can’t see which is the more moral choice - or is it?”

Here’s what these “conservatives” need to understand. It’s not the “illegitimacy” per se that causes the social decline. It’s what happens because of the illegitimacy that causes decline.

There is no doubt in my mind that Bristol’s child will be a net plus for society. Were every “illegitimate” child to be raised with the care and love Bristol’s child will be granted, our society would be much, much better off.

Good line here:

....and Sarah Palin, who wandered in from the Alaska wilderness with a rifle under one arm and a baby in the other. ...

Vote on the poll just to the right of the article too.

Herald Pulse
How does her unmarried daughter’s pregnancy affect your opinion of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin?

58% - It doesn’t.

11% - I was going to vote for McCain/Palin, but now I am less sure of that vote.

25% - I wasn’t going to vote for the Republican ticket anyway.

6% - It depends how she handles this issue.
Total Votes: 1,868

“That's what normal looks like?”

It is what normal looks like, today. If it hasn't happened in your immediate family; it's happened to one of your nieces or cousins or your best friends family. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone whose family hasn't been affected by the uncommitted sex so promoted by the popular culture, sexual revolution and sex education.

You also shouldn't fool yourself that teen pregnancy is something new. It happened all the time even before the sexual revolution. It was just kept hidden as a family's deep dark secret with girls sent away to have the babies, babies put up for adoption and yes even Grandmother's pretending to be the Mother of the child: witness Jack Nicholson and Bobby Darin.

The Democrats are once again snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

They BLEW the hurricane news cycle by “hoping” for thousands of deaths to distract from the RNC convention and people noticed.

Nowthey are atacking Palin - people don’t like it.

I guess it will be sweet when Vice-President Palin is sworn in and Obama goes back to the senate and must spend his time with Hillary - now that’s punishment.

Why did you add a question mark to my statement?

I said "That's what normal looks like."

You turned it into a question and made it seem like I thought Bristol's pregnancy was some anomaly. I see the Palin family as profoundly normal. You misquoted me and made it seem like I take a very different view. Please don't do that.

...that illegitimacy is a sign of social decline...

Nope. Illegitimacy is nothing new - The aborting of the baby to cover up the illegitimacy - and having it sanctioned by the state, is is the indicator of social decline.

Getting married (shotgun or otherwise) is the norm, and Bristol & Levi, while not being celebrated, should at least be given a "headnod" for doing the right thing - in the end.

Not just sanctioned by the state,

but paid for with the confiscated wealth of those that oppose killing babies.

“So while there is no abortion involved, we shouldn’t miss the fact that the bar has once again been lowered.”

Lowered for who? Right now, the Dems try to hold Republicans to an astronomically high standard, while basically saying they have no bar.

I have LONG ago given up on trying to hold political figures up to anywhere even remotely close to the standard I try to live at.
