OUTTA SIGHT! [PART ONE] The Winnowing of the Candidates By John W. Cassell
Where have all the candidates gone short time passing? This is my attempt at an answer to the question where has the spontaneity gone asked earlier.
This is where it gets tricky, folks. This is the part we never see. They dont cast any blinking, blinding bright lights on THIS process no music and special effects psychologically calculated to bring a human being to the point of joyful tears, no matter WHAT is going on at the podium.
This is where both the spontaneity went and the real power resides in this country OUTTA SIGHT.
Okay bear with me here, folks. We have to figure all this out by indirection. We are looking at the various outcroppings that dot the American political landscape AND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT the root structure underneath. Thats the only way we can do it. These people never show themselves.
So what do we see outcropping on the American sociopolitical landscape? [this is the first of eight parts]....
1) The Bureaucracy: This, I believe, by virtue of its sheer dead weight is a major factor in the plans of the unseen Elite who very shortly now may well have the whole wide world in their hands. Mind you they dont want to rule it they just want it to respond to their needs and profit from it.
[You may notice references here to songs I sometimes sing when Im nervous as hell].
Bureaucracy has done nothing but grow since the end of World War II. The rules for carrying on commerce, running a farm, pursuing a profession, developing a plot of land and especially [choke] attempting to extract mineral resources from the ground have become impossibly complex, ruinously expensive and full of traps for the unwary.
At the moment bureaucracy contains what? Fifteen twenty-five intelligence gathering agencies? These agencies have seeing devices that can read license plates from up in the stars, listening devices that can pick up the sounds every sound inside a house from almost any convenient clump of bushes even comfy vehicles. Thermal Imaging devices that can pretty much divine any activity missed by the other two.
What do you think people do with all this fancy stuff? Well besides getting court orders and doing a fair amount of brave work among our enemies foreign and domestic, they likely do what J. Edgar Hoover also did on the side with far less sophisticated equipment. Ever wonder why John F. Kennedy didnt fire the guy especially since Hoover thought JFK would bring hell on earth? Ever wonder why Bobby Kennedy signed all those wiretap orders against Martin Luther King? Ever looked closely and the news photo of Hoover and Johnson the day Ol LBJ signed into law the Congressional act essentially making Hoover Director for Life?
Talk about a photographic study of the Victor and the Vanquished and damn few folks vanquished LBJ and lived to tell about it.
Well the answer happens to be the same for all these intriguing questions: they were being blackmailed with evidence Hoover kept in what were called his private files.
Now Ol J. Edgar knew how to set limits and he kept his promise. Within twenty minutes of his death, Clyde Tolson was seen wheeling a very heavy cart full of files to the incinerator room and all that dirt was burned.
Think anybody sets limits nowadays? Heh heh.
With all those different agencies pursuing their different agendas, I doubt there is a truly strong and potential Godsend as president in this country who as a result of his private pecadillos and those of his siblings, spouse and children as well, can survive the ridicule, humiliation and embarrassment the media will heap upon him.
Finally as to bureaucracy they just drag their feet when they dont want to do something they dont give a damn who is president. If President Obama were to get universal health insurance for us all I wouldnt advise anyone getting sick for awhile. Oh theyll make a start all right the regulations enabling the various components of the program to function will be subjected to notice and an opportunity to be heard. There will be hearings lengthy hotly contested hearings at which the insurance magnates and medical magnates and human interest magnates will all argue and propose the lawyers as usual will make a killing bringing writs of prohibition and writs of mandamus after pursuing the lengthy labyrinth of intra-agency review procedures.
There will be test cases and more litigation based on the test cases and eventually the federal appellate circuits will be so deeply in conflict that the Supreme Court will step in and decide. Then of course begins the litigation to establish the meaning of the Supreme Courts Delphian pronouncements then the appellate process, then the divided federal circuits
WHEW!
Dont get sick for a while folks.
This is the End of Part One I will continue surveying the outcroppings of the American sociopolitical landscape in Part Two. Ill bet some of you see where this leads too
God bless .
