WESTWOOD
Police Friday arrested a 52-year-old homeless man they say fired several shots in the air near UCLA while making anti-government statements.
The man, was reportedly was in possession of more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition, was being held Monday without bail, according to police.
UCLA Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at Broxton Avenue and Le Conte Place, the edge of the campus, about
11:50 p.m. Friday.
Officer said they found Gene Carlton Bush wearing a holster and standing empty handed, said UCLA police Sgt. Baguiao.
The officers ordered Bush to the ground at gunpoint, but he refused, saying, "Not until everyone gets here," Baguiao said.
While two officers held their guns on Bush, a third officer incapacitated him with a Taser, he said.
Bush, uninjured, was handcuffed and taken into custody without further
incident, he said.
He was carrying five loaded semi-automatic pistols with laser sights and
multiple loaded ammunition magazines, Baguiao said.
Witnesses said Bush fired at least three shots at a traffic light.
Officers found evidence to confirm the reports, and a bullet in a nearby building, he said.
Bush allegedly made anti-government statements and told officers they
must look in his nearby suitcase for "the secret," Baguiao said.
A Los Angeles police bomb squad also responded to ensure safety, he said.
In the suitcase were ammunition, timers, cans of paint thinner and other
suspicious items, including a manifesto entitled "The Secret," he said.
Officers recovered more than 400 rounds of ammunition on Bush's person
and in his suitcase, another 7,800 rounds in his van and 3,000 more in his
storage unit, Baguiao said.
Police believe he has been living in his van.
Bush, who apparently has no criminal history, was being held without
bail and was due in Los Angeles Municipal Court Division 147 Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Gene Carlton Bush was arrested and accused of shooting several shots into the air near the UCLA campus.

So, the guy is actually only “homeless” because he recently sold his home to buy 10,000 rounds of ammo.
Why is it that when you’re a nutcase, the press refers to you by your full given name (i.e. Lee Harvey Oswald, John Wayne Gacy, Gene Carlton Bush)? Is it just supposed to sound more sinister or something?
10,000 rounds? Heck, that's the result of one good reloading session for some folks.
I’ll bite — what’s his “Secret”?
UT Fan?
Anytime my mother used my full name, that meant trouble!
Down by the river, no doubt.
Perhaps he's a Truther?
My baby, she wrote me a letter ~

Down by the river?
Are you sure it’s not Matt Foley, 35, who lives in his van down by the river?
Too much coffee. He is a motivational speaker living in a van down by the river.
For the first time, I can actually write these words and mean them.. Bush’s fault.
But with five loaded pistols plus lasers and reloads, I'm surprised he could even stand up. In the future, I suggest that the police just use a large electromagnet on clowns like this.
Doesn’t Ca have laws against this? Guns, I mean. I’m fully aware they have no laws against nutcases.
10,000 rounds.
Homeless.
At least he has his priorities straight...
LIVIN' IN A VAN! DOWN BY THE RIVER!!!
Dammit, ya beat me.
