Daschle In 2000 Race: 17 Months in Senate Adequate Preparation For VP Slot
A Willing Suspension of Disbelief ^ | 09/01/2008 | Pjsbro

Posted on 09/01/2008 2:57:56 PM PDT by pjsbro

Yesterday Tom Daschle told Wolf Blitzer that McCain's decision to choose Palin was "inexplicable".

But back in 2000 Daschle had no problem giving the VP nod to John Edwards, who at that time had been a U.S Senator for only 17 months with no other government experience:

MR. RUSSERT: But, Senator, Ronald Reagan was governor for eight years, Bill Clinton governor for eight years, George W. Bush governor for five years. Mr. Edwards was a trial lawyer, a personal injury lawyer before 17 months in the Senate. Is that adequate preparation?

SEN. DASCHLE: Well, Tim, I think it's the life experiences you bring to the job. I don't know of anybody that has a broader array of life experiences than John Edwards. He has been a success story. He has gone through his own personal trials. He has come to the Senate and, right from the start, taken on leadership roles. He has demonstrated his capacity for leadership in ways that I haven't seen before. It's really remarkable what he's been able to do in a very short period of time. He's demonstrated to me his capacity to take on responsibility. He'll do that again should he be the nominee. I have no doubt about that.

17 months in office is adequate preparation for a man, but for a woman 16 years is not enough. The Democrat Party is the party of sexism ( and racism! ).

What’s the difference between a leftist politician and a hypocrite?

I guess what Daschle meant was in order to be vice president one had to cheat on a spouse who had cancer and possibly produce a child.

Tom Daschle [said] that McCain's decision to choose Palin was "inexplicable"... But back ... had no problem giving the VP nod to John Edwards, who...had been a U.S Senator for only 17 months with no other government experience...

Lying.

Democrats lie for the sheer sport of it.

(I took this line from Ann Coulter, but plagiarism is okay, now.)

Daschel is an Obama leg hump and he’s been with him from the start.

I guess he blames Bill and Hillary for losing his senate seat, but if he supports Barry O, then disqualifying Sarah Palin for lack of experience is a big stretch, because everybody knows that Barry O doesn’t have the experience to be President.

That’s McCain’s entire campaign theme and with all due respect to Daschel and the many other Obama leg humps who belittle Palin’s experience, they must be joking themselves if they think McCain is going to change his ‘Obama doesn’t have the experience’ theme because he picked her.

I actually thought that Obama would pick Daschle to be his veep at one point.

I love it when the left tells a their enemies that they have made a mistake or bad choice. You then KNOW that the choice made was the right one.

We all know this is just another item on the dems long list of things to try - they don’t have to be true or factual.

They throw out dirt until something sticks and they manufacture reasons for their supporters in the media to write lofty sounding columns tearing down the competition.

They just keep shoveling filth and spinning their stories until voters hear the lies so much they start to believe them.

Its just theater for the rubes but it always works for the democrats because they cannot be embarrassed.

Their expressed concern about Sarah’s experience is just a ruse to plant uncertainty in the minds of voters.
They aren’t concerned at all about Obama’s lack of experience.
But they know there are plenty of stupid voters who always fall for their scams.

They know we know it is dirty politics and they don’t care.
A dirty win is still a win to them.

Really? Well, Senator Daschle, meet Sarah Palin - her life experiences - real life, not the contrived inside-the-beltway stuff you're talking about!

In some respects, Edwards has engaged in quite the variety of “life experiences” as the National Enquirer has nicely chronicled.

They say Sarah has no experience, and she’s the only candidate running with executive experience except for McCain’s Naval command positions. You can’t make it up any better than this.

Tommy Daschle should go back to his lobbyist wife’s mansion and roll in her money. Thank heavens we don’t see him in South Dakota anymore.

Edwards even then still has more than Obama - he actually served in the Senate those 17 months. Obama pretty much started running for President immediately - his title of Senator is nothing but that - a title.
