If a levee in Louisiana fails, the local Army Corps of Engineers entire office should be fired. The Corps of Bungleers has become a sad joke filled with bureaucrats and do nothing environmentalist nutcases.
If they can’t do their core job functions, fire them all.
I don’t believe the Army Corps of Engineers is responsible for those local levees. I could be wrong, but I believe they are NOLA’s responsibility.
It is a private leveenot federal
This one isn’t a COE levee.
It's a private levee, not one maintained by the Corps of Engineers.
They had how long to fix the levee problems there? where in the hell did my money go?
Not sure how much the Corps had to do with his levee...... The Parish President was interviewed and said they had added a little to the levee in the past couple of years and planted grass. With overtopping he expects the soil to erode.
From NOLA: http://www.nola.com/hurricane/index.ssf/2008/09/plaquemines_parish_levee_threa.html
Plaquemines Parish workers have been furiously working on the levee along the Clearwater Canal since mid-afternoon. Floodwaters spilling over the top of the levee threaten the Braithwaite Park subdivision.
The canal is on the east bank of the parish. The subdivision is off Louisiana 39. The 8-foot-tall levee is a parish levee that is not part of the federal levee protection system, officials said.
Officials said the same levee is also being overtopped further south at Scarsdale.
So fire them and then what? When I read posts like yours I cringe. Its easy to throw stones but we're dealing with hundreds of miles of levees and huge forces of nature. It is a pretty difficult assignment. So I'd back off until more facts are known. A failure of this particular levee is not as bad as what happened with Katrina.
fired you say first the democrats took the before katrina money and didn’t use it on the levees, then they took the after katrina money and didn’t use it on the levees..new orleans is corrupt, honey bun, through and through and the po po prolly want anther vaca in vegas right now.......

It would help greatly if you would learn a few facts before spouting off.
You ever been to NOLA?
You ever been to any mile of any levee there?
FWIW-
When you insult the USACE you are also insulting regular ol’ hard working USACE employees who do the labor jobs for USACE. Most of these people would give you the shirt off their back in a heart beat.
As I type this the latest is that no levee's have failed. They are only being over topped by the large amounts of water. No matter what sometimes man can not build structures that can fight off mother nature no matter how hard man tries.
