ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Well, it has been 72 hours and I have YET to read an article or hear a news clip where Obama/Biden have made ANY COMMENT AT ALL about any position that Sarah Palin holds on the issues.

They have been silent, and the MSM is doing the muckraking and character assassination.

The Democrats do not debate the issues, they concentrate on destroying the meesenger.

Yeah, I’m fairly certain she can handle this situation just fine.

This pregnancy is the least of the repubs worry.

Seems Palin has been accused of pressuring members of her Admin. to fire a police officer who divorced her sister.

Reports are that McCain knew about it but decided that it did not matter. I tend to agree, since it happens. At least the daughter is going to do the adult thing and not take the easy way out with an abortion like so many thousands of other girls have.

As far as Sarah Palin goes, she was not the one who made the mistake, so who cares?

Just sayin'!

Now the Alaska Independence Party (secession from the US) says that Palin addressed their 2008 convention. Libs are making a big deal out of it.

A zillion replies and I'm going to reply before I even give a cursory look.

As a 63 year old whose now 41 year old daughter came to her when the daughter was 19 to tell her she was pregnant due to a date rape, I have already written to the Official MySpace page for Gov Palin and told her she has my support and friendship, and I sent her my cell number to call me if she ever needed to talk. My daughter's baby was placed for private adoption, has turned 22 now and is in the Army in Iraq. He and my daughter (and her husband and their 2 children) have met and they have met his family and fiance' -- when a person makes a decision for the sake of the unborn, the person has made the correct decision, the godly decision.

I am sure the Liberals will smear this like diaper poop on every available media. But let me tell you something. If Bristol had quietly gone out and gotten an abortion and then the abortion had come out, the Liberals would be all over the Republicans for being hypocrites. And because Bristol is keeping her baby and going to marry the father, the Liberals are LIVID because this is an "in your face" PRO-LIFE stand for the protection of "the least of these:" an unborn baby.

I don't want to hear of ANY Freeper acting holier-than-thou over what has happened. This happened FIVE MONTHS AGO and not last night. I'm sure Bristol has felt remorse and guilt. BUT THANKFULLY the Father Of The Child, "Levi," Is Going To Marry Bristol. And the marriage and the baby are cause for celebration not condemnation.

Hold the entire Palin family up in your prayers. Pray for Bristol to have a healthy baby and for the marriage of Bristol to Levi to be blessed with longevity. This child is born for a purpose. Perhaps this child is born because he/she will be the caretaker of Trig when the Palins have passed away. Do not ever doubt that God has a purpose for everything under heaven. You may not know what that purpose is, but He surely does.

thus why we have a 2k thread here

The reason for every 2k post thread is emotional reactions. In your case a negative emotional reaction to the news. In my case a positive emotional reaction to the Palin selection with the realization that your negative reaction will temper with time and conservatives will turn out in droves for Palin.

Is that any guarantee she would use it? She’s a big girl, she knows where babies come from doesn’t she? For all we know, she may have been engaged to marry after school was over, and just slipped up! Sometimes no matter how many times someone tells a teenager not to do something, they still get away! The girl is not an animal to be “controlled”!

Sometimes the best, and most conservative parents have this happen, I know a few myself! Also, one of my daughters was in this situation. No matter how many times I fretted about her, and tried to tell her, she still didn’t listen! She had a miscarriage, and it was very sad. Still I supported her anyway when she got pregnant again but married the father a few years later!

My daughter was very strong-willed in many other ways, just not that I’m afraid! But I have two lovely grandchildren I treasure, and two that passed away (she had two miscarriages). Besides, it’s none of our business anyway what Mrs. Palin’s family does, is it? And you know that even the great, conservative R.Reagan had difficulties with his two younger kids.

Could he have stopped them from doing what they were going to do? I don’t think so! Jeb Bush and
George Bush could always know what their own kids would do once they grew up and got away from them. They had problems with drugs and alcohol-related incidents!

This would be the same BiL who tasered his own 10 year old stepson, threatened to kill members of her family and boys in blue did nothing.

Another temper tantrum. Why am I not surprised. LOL

As I pointed out to another misguided poster in a recent reply. Pointing out one matter of bad behavior, doesn't excuse other bad behavior. Reagan's bad behavior in 1952, doesn't excuse Sarah Palin’s daughters bad behavior in 2008.

Btw, your remarks continue to be over the top, out of line and dead wrong. Let me add to that rhetorical litany, OFF THE WALL!

Your attempts to wiggle out reveals a character flaw that directly reflects in your juvenile behavior on this public forum.

“So you are the arbiter of what is good for children, what is good for parents and what is good for society? Where do you garner the power to make such judgments? How many residents of this site do you suppose may have been the product of parents who may have been sexually active before marriage? How do you know that your parents weren’t sexually active before they got married and just lucky that you weren’t conceived beforehand? Or your older brother or sister for that matter.......”

No, I expressed a view shared by many people on this thread that sex before marriage is not good. I claim no special status as arbiter, any more than in your disagreeing with me you claim some high and mighty status of arbitering what I aid.

I simply expressed a conviction that it’s a mistake to put baby-making before marriage-making, something I thought would be a consensus view on FR.

I also made clear that one can call something a mistake, acknowledge it was not good for the individuals or for society without condemning the persons involved.

Look, you are contradicting the Palins. They acknowledge that their daughter now faces heavy challenges she would not have faced had she not done what she did. They offer their full love and support. They welcome the child, who is innocent of any mistake. But they do not deny that a mistake was made.

What’s so hard about that? Why must you judge me so harshly for pointing out that we can affirm the people, who themselves recognize their error, without denying that an error was made?

And stop it already with the statistics. I know these stats very well. Yes, of course, many people have throughout history “jumped the gun.” You throw statistics as if the fact that people do something means it’s good.

I can cite any set of statistics about what people do but that doesn’t make the act good. The issue is whether even engaged couples are better off to wait until they actually have made an irrevocable promise to each other publicly and in law (and sacrament for many of us) before making babies. A lot of evidence shows they are better off.

No, this is being stoked by the Obama camp.
If you notice his response today, he made a weak statement about the “press” laying off the Palin family, and completely ignoring the source of the vicious lies - his own campaign and supporters.

He specifically left them out and only called out the press.

What a weasel.

YOu would hide her at home? At home dealing with a teen pregnancy? What does that even mean?

IMHO, I’d keep it simpler than that.

1) Instead of reacting, respond, as always through faith in Christ.

2) Respond by becoming responsible parents.

3) The opportunity for marriage exists, but the basics of identifying the right man and right woman precede marriage. Sexual intercourse isn’t the same as a marital love. Don’t become unequally yoked if one is a believer and one is not. Even if not married, that doesn’t relieve either father nor mother of their parental responsibilities. As the situation has been described, the couple is engaged to be married. Keep it simple with encouragement to make the right decisions, and always through faith in Christ.

4) Volition, marriage, family, and national governance are all divinely established institutions for believer and unbeliever alike. As long as the legitimate authority of those institutions are obeyed, they provide blessings for believer and unbeliever alike. For every cursing their is a blessing through faith in Christ. It’s far smarter to allow a cursing be turned into a blessing, than turning a blessing into a cursing.

5) IMHO, I wouldn’t demand the pregnancy to force a marriage, but I would rejoice if a marriage and family are the blessings of their life through faith in Christ.

Unwed teen pregnancy is not a problem?

I choose to adamantly disagree with those folks.

People are stating that the Palins are being supportive of their daughter, and I don’t see how Sarah Palin can be supportive if she is in Washington or campaigning for VP. I don’t think supportive means just sending a check.

My only complaint about this is that I don’t think her running for VP is good timing for the Palins. I also don’t think this helps the republicans.

I did say that I would prefer that the baby be givin up for adoption, but that is because I would prefer all out of wedlock babies be put up for adoption to 2 married adults. I think that is what is in the best interest of the baby. It’s also what I would recommend to my own daughters if they were to ever get pregnant. It would be something they could always be proud of.

Ap/all other news wires, pundits etc... will leave all that out.

The accusation will lead the charge. Details will be lost when the MSM gets done talking about this “new scandal”. Just read AP (Will not post AP’s propaganda) latest:

They’re in a snit because their guy didn’t get picked. So they’re gleefully taking part in the (attempted) trashing of Palin & her family. Maybe they think it will give their guy a chance. Or maybe they’re just so bitter they really don’t care WHO wins the election. The type who takes their ball & goes home. At this point I wish they would.
