The Clintons are notorious for adultery and lying, for abuse of power and office to fill their own wallets and sexual appetites. That MUST be loudly and brashly spoken against and mocked, lest people think it is normal.
Yet the Palin's what have they shown except honoranle behavior? Why the vile rumor?
You are foolish to equivocate the two cases.
Indeed, one has to expect that public pictures of Palin may be used to draw a time-line on her pregnancy to prove whatever it is someone wants to prove.
Instead, I think the ethical problem here is that the accusations being made are so far out ahead of what the observable evidence supports.

Self analysis and correction is a good thing. When we resort to gutter tactics, we tarnish the reputation of Free Republic. If we want people to view us as a great news and commentary site, we need to all be able to discuss the tenor of our own posts without being zotted.

To address some of the excuses made on this thread: The cruel "Chelsea is Hubble's daughter" smear is not now and was never a joke. It was started when Chelsea was a young child. In fact, her looks and parentage have been mocked on FR almost since this site was first founded, and have largely gone unrebutted all these years until now. Bill Clinton has been out of office for over 7 1/2 years. When is enough, enough regarding attacks on Chelsea who, from all accounts, is a very decent young woman who is "guilty" only of loving her parents?

I agree with you. Okay, i am probably going to make a lot of mistakes here since i am a newbie:
well, freerepublic has evolved from a ‘right wing nut’ site, to something respectable. Whatever ancient history there was, at least for the past few years, the admin, and in fact, many here, have been civil and promoting civility. Posts that are way overboard, whether based on republican or democrat opinions, are taken down.
Compare that to the leftie boards. Do they even police their own liberal posts? They only take down Conservative posts... And take note on how every single one of them always jump on the occasional liberal who is trying to tell them to not be raving moonbats.
To illustrate: see the posts about Obama’s stand on the attacks on the Palins.
Some are wary of his intentions (totally legitimate), and some are trying to show that he has some form of class.
If this were like DU or DKos, the posts suggesting that Obama (Bush) has some form of integrity would have been removed and slammed for being ‘left wing’ (right wing) propaganda. And this would be encouraged by the admins and moderators over there.
We are not the media. I don’t care if blogs attack her.
