The left argues that they say these things as a “joke”, too. The left thinks that their rumors are justified, too. And so on. At some point, it’s excuses. Do I think Free Republic does a much better job of moderating loony opinions than a lot of he left wing sites? Sure. But that’s a matter of degree. Why is it wrong to be critical of the stuff here that does get through and doesn’t generally get moderated out?

Chelsea is almost the spitting image of what her maternal grandmother looked like in her youth. It's quite common for features to skip a generation, and for children to look more like their grandparents than their parents. George W. Bush looks a lot like his paternal grandmother, for example.2. Conservatives claim to be better people than Leftists/Dems. Prove it. Stop this gutter insinuation that Chelsea is not Bill Clinton's daughter. She IS his daughter. Whatever else Clinton is, he has always been a loving, devoted father to his daughter. The gutter insinuations about Hubble and Chelsea were started in conservative circles when Chelsea was still a child and they continue to this day. Yet conservatives hypocritically whine about the Left's gutter insinuations regarding Gov. Palin and her children.
To address some of the excuses made on this thread: The cruel "Chelsea is Hubble's daughter" smear is not now and was never a joke. It was started when Chelsea was a young child. In fact, her looks and parentage have been mocked on FR almost since this site was first founded, and have largely gone unrebutted all these years until now. Bill Clinton has been out of office for over 7 1/2 years. When is enough, enough regarding attacks on Chelsea who, from all accounts, is a very decent young woman who is "guilty" only of loving her parents?

No matter what your age, how would you feel if a group of people relentlessly "joked" about your parentage, or the parentage of your children (if you have any)? How would you feel if you knew there was absolutely nothing you could do about it, not only because libel laws make it nearly impossible for public people to win libel suits, but because once it's out there on the internet, it will exist practically forever? Your kids will know about it, and their kids, and so on.
