I have seen a lot of commentary on why John McCains pick of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is a cynical and transparent ploy to bring disaffected women who supported Hillary Clinton to his cause and why this ploy would fail.
But I dont think John McCain and the people around him are that stupid.
Something else in his speech introducing Palin as his choice caught my attention and I believe shines some light on the real reason McCain chose the Alaskan.
McCain said of this pick I have found the right partner to help me stand up to those who value their privileges over their responsibilities, who put power over principle, and put their interests before your needs I found someone with an outstanding reputation for standing up to special interests and entrenched bureaucracies; someone who has fought against corruption and the failed policies of the past.
The McCain campaign plans on making an assault on Barack Obamas strength as a change agent. And challenge, what the McCain campaign will describe as, Obamas weak or non-existent attacks on corruption within the Democratic party and other institutions throughout his career.

PING!
Cool.
And being a conservative Christian is a plus, too.
Yep, I thought a key tenet of feminism was that women can do any job a man can, and that the best person should get the job. It’s depressing to think that they are saying Sarah got the VP nod only because of being a woman.
Jackie Robinson was black but he was also a great ball player. If you want to talk about “firsts”. Sarah seems like one heck of a woman and politician. We may see that as time goes on, the fact that she’s a woman will fade into the background.

Which is going to be the deciding factor here, although I believe that the election, barring the unforeseen is basically already over. "The Audacity of Hype" can't stand next to a proven record of real combat against government corruption without being diminished to its true state, that of insignificance...

VERY GOOD SIGN.
I’ve been telling everyone that McCazin was not playiing
any gender card. The Gender was incedent to her being a compelling Conservative voice.
Trippi is no fool. He’s very good at what he does. For heaven’s sake, he made Dean look viable!
What gets me about this is, she is being pinned against Obama,
McCain is the Presumptive POTUSA candidate and people on the left are looking at it totally as it is Palin against Obama.
IMHO she can take either of them in a debate about both positions. LOL!

Terrific. Just add Condi Rice as Secretary of State and they’ll have it ALL.
Well for a little while, anyway...
(But he had so little to work with.)
The left is having a wiley cyote moment.
They greeted palin with laugher.
Now that they are in the shadow of the boulder about to hit their heads, they are not going to laughing much longer.
I didn’t realize he had more losers than Bob Shrum.
sorry but Condi Rice needs to GO.
the State department needs a MAJOR PURGE of all the socialists in there.
Rice was incapable of leading there. She waw handily couped by her underlings.
No, let Condi Rice retire, she has done too much damage already.
"It was rightly noted in Denver this week that Hillary left 18 million cracks in the highest, hardest glass ceiling in America. But it turns out the women of America aren't finished yet, and we can shatter that glass ceiling once and for all."
